[maroon]Flicking his tail over her ear, he nodded. "Go ahead, just don't fall anywhere. The last thing we need is a visit to the Medicine Cat's Den." He meowed, smiling at her enthusiasm. What does it feel like to have so many strong, young, willing cats under your command? To be a leader? He wondered, eyes traveling upward to the sky as he raised his head. The clouds were moving along slowly; white puffs in the sky. Clear, clean, without sin.[/maroon]

Featherpaw nodded in agreement but was only half listening, her mind filled with the excitement of the mission. As soon as he gave her the permission she shot off, racing over the moorland in a blur of light fur. She skidded to a halt, over the hill and tasted the air. She then wondered if any rabbits would be around after her mindless run across the moor. As she looked around she thought she saw a shadow appear several fox-lengths away, and she immediately dropped into a hunters crouch as the scent of the rabbit filled her glands. She began to stalk forward, but this rabbit had spotted her as she came running across the moor like a fox having a fit. It bolted, and as she took off after it, it seemed to disappear, being swallowed up into the ground. She stopped again, slightly disappointed that she hadn't managed to catch the rabbit but she knew there would be others around. She padded more slowly to different places along the moorland, and she crouched again at the scent of a new rabbit. This one was smaller than the first she caught, its back turned to her, fur gray. She prowled forward just like she'd been taught, and sprang off the ground in a silent kick, aiming to land just where the rabbit's head was. The creature took off, but she landed neatly on it's back and disposed of the creature with one, quick, fatal blow to the neck. She dragged it over to a bunch of rocks and stuffed it in a crevice where she could fetch it later. Featherpaw padded on, glancing at the sky to see that the sun had hardly moved since she began her hunting mission.

[maroon]Yawning, Thornstrike looked around lazily. Standing up, he trotted around for a short while in search of shade. He kept his previous location within eye-sight though, in case his apprentice returned and couldn't find him. Aha! Spotting a small birch tree, he circled the trunk and then plopped down, sighing as he rested his tired paws. He felt slightly guilty that he was resting while Featherpaw was out working her tail off, so he decided that he might as well train himself, too. Standing up once again, he padded back to his previous location and began sniffing around in search of moss. Might as well be prepared to replenish the Elder's Den when we get back to Camp. Letting loose another yawn, the tom dragged a large clump of the green fungai over to his former spot and set it down before turning to fetch more.[/maroon]

Featherpaw gazed down at the second rabbit she had caught in surprise. It had basically ran from its burrow and directly into her claws. She wondered if it would count as one of the two rabbits she had to bring back to Thornstrike before the sun was down. When she glanced up at the sky though, she noticed that it was sinking, and closing in towards sun-down. She wouldn't have time to search for another rabbit; as she hadn't found one since the first rabbit she'd caught. She began to drag her newly caught rabbit back towards the first one she caught, and then she paused looking at both the rabbits and wondering how she could carry them both back at once. In the end she decided to carry the lighter, smaller rabbit and push the other one with her paws towards where she had left her mentor to begin her mentor. The sun has nearly vanished by the time she reached the spot where he was.

[maroon]Sighing, the tom dropped a last bundle on the pile that had accumulated. By now, his mouth tasted of dirt and plant stems. Swiping his tongue around his muzzle, he spat onto the ground in an attempt to erase the taste. Staring at the moss, he noted that if Featherpaw had caught more than one rabbit, then they would need to make two trips. Or I can make two. I'll let her rest when we get back to camp. Well, unless she wants to that is. Flicking his tail, he spotted her small shape across the moors. He could see something dangling from her mouth, and there was a larger object that she appeared to be shoving along with her paws. Bounding over to meet Featherpaw, his eyes widened as he noticed how large the rabbit was. "That's quite a catch." He meowed, flicking his tail at the two rabbits. "We'll probably need to make two trips. We'll take the rabbits to the fresh-kill pile first in case any predators come along looking for a quick snack. I'll come back and get the moss later." He added, bending down and picking up the larger rabbit.[/maroon]

OOC: Aw, ain't she cute? I wants a kitty that looks like that. xD -huggles siggie-
IC: Featherpaw glanced at the rabbits she had caught, and then the other two, one hers, one Thornstrike's. She noticed the pile of moss and realized he was right. They couldn't possibly carry that all back just between the two of them. "Okay," she meowed, to his plan to carry the rabbits and go back and get the moss. She wondered if the moss was for the elders. As she picked one of the rabbits, again she thought about what they must have gone through. She wondered why that last rabbit had run out of its borrow straight towards her. Did it think she was a rabbit? It was true her fur held all the right colors, but rabbits didn't have long tails. If she didn't scare it, than what did? A predator? Or was it a blind rabbit, and didn't notice her before it ran out? Did it think it could outrun her? So many thoughts buzzed through her mind, too many, and she forced them away, as she continued to drag the rabbit.

[Lol, she is too adorable. ^^ Her pelt's an awesome color too! With the smoky white and brown...] [maroon]Staring at one of the other rabbits for a long time, the tom finally bent down once more, barely managing to fit it between his jaws too. He was about to say 'lets go', but then he thought better of it. Shouldn't waste the effort of putting both rabbits in my mouth. Wouldn't want to drop them. Kicking a light layer of dirt over the remaining two rabbits, the tom set off towards Camp at a brisk pace, knowing that Featherpaw would soon follow. I'm lucky to have an obedient apprentice. And she's clever too. Not clumsy, annoying, or even loud. Hmmm. What strange luck I was given.[/maroon]

OOC: She's too cute. I'z melting, xD. She's too gentle and compassionate as well. Training her to fight is gonna be hard. xD
IC: While the two cats dragged the rabbits along the moorland, she fixed her eyes on the landmarks. Nothing much to see; it was perfect. The ground was soft and endless, and you could run forever if you wanted to. The sun was just over every horizon; such a beautiful glow! The heat of the day always reached you, with no trees to block it out. She guessed ThunderClan were used to that, and probably was why they used SunningRocks, a well known place throughout the clans for hunting, sunning yourself, and fighting. Fighting, she thought and the word made her shudder. The thought of such fighting, hurting another cat, scaring them, killing them, set her heart thumping and a chill through her chest. Murder such a terrifying thought. Erasing the life of another creature; who had a full one ahead of them. Causing them pain when you know you would not want it yourself. That sudden jolt of fear when you realized you were beaten, losing, defeated. There was just no chance left. Death the final word was the scariest. So many cats died, so many had family. The family grieved and wept and there was nothing anyone could do. Life was cruel. Her gentle spirit could hardly handle it. Cats could love with such a passion, but they could hate with the same fire. It was terrifying.

[Thornstrike will enjoy the challenge though.] [maroon]As they neared the Camp, the tom glanced over his shoulder at the apprentice. His eyes narrowed at the troubled look on her face, and then a thought hit him that he had not considered before. She's a gentle cat... One that would be reluctant to kill. Well, it did sound too perfect from the beggining. Everyone has their weaknesses. He reminded himself. Well, I'll just have to deal with it tomorrow. Padding over to the fresh-kill pile, he dropped both rabbits and then turned and was already starting back towards where they had left the two rabbits and moss. "Come on Featherpaw. Before anything scents the prey." He meowed tursely, beckoning for her to follow.[/maroon]

Featherpaw dropped the rabbit on the pile, glancing once around the camp to find many cats sharing tongues and being lazy. Right now she wasn't tired, but she felt an odd weight in her legs that told her she was going to be soon. But she might as well exercise herself while she could, in order to get ready for tomorrow. She guessed it would probably be a battle training day because today was hunting training. She bounded along after her mentor as he headed back towards where they had left the fresh-kill. She let the thoughts of wounding and hurting other creatures behind, and thought instead about her mother. What had she been like when she was an apprentice? Did she run off in every direction trying to smell and see everything at once? Or did she follow along behind her mentor knowing there could be danger anywhere throughout the moorland, just like in any territory. She personally thought she would be able to see just as much as the disobedient, curious apprentice and maybe more, because the disobedient cat usually stayed in camp and tended to the elders for awhile. She almost purred with amusement but remembered that she wasn't alone.

[maroon]Spotting the pile up ahead, the tom allowed his thoughts to wander. He was standing on a hill again, a young tom, barely older than Featherpaw. Beside him sat a black cat with green eyes and a silver striped tail. ~~~~~~~~ "Tomorrow, Jack. Tomorrow, we will set fate right and bring down those damned cats." Eyes narrowed, Thorn flexed his claws, glaring down at the forest below. That was the territory that belonged to his father's murderer. His own uncle. Beside him, he could feel his brother's tail rest reassuringly on his shoulder. "Calm down, brother. You don't have to release all your anger now. We'll have time to avenge our ruined lives tomorrow. When the sun rises, the plan will be set in place." Nodding, Thorn sheathed his talons and straightened up once more, glancing over at his littermate. "If we had started off differently... If Bane hadn't been killed, where would we be now?" He meowed, and Jack sighed, standing up and turning around to go back to their hide-out. "Fate is a funny thing, Thorn. It has a way of always setting things onto a certain path, no mater what choices you make." The black cat meowed before disappearing into the undergrowth. Thorn stared after him for a moment until his brother's pelt vanished from view, and the tabby finally stood up and followed until he too was swallowed up in the bushes. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Blinking, Thornstrike slipped out of his flashback. They had returned to the spot where they'd buried the prey, and he undug the two rabbits, shoving one towards Featherpaw and then lifting the other in his own jaws.[/maroon]

Featherpaw picked up the rabbit, feeling it's fur brush her tongue and something salty. It was too much of a liquid to be blood, and yet so salty. Not sweat, either. It wasn't gritty. It was water, with salt. She lapped her tongue along the fur again. Oh, great StarClan, she thought and nearly sighed. For what she had tasted, was tears. I'm sorry, she thought to the rabbit, wondering if it had it's own spirit of warrior ancestors that it belonged to. Or did prey go to StarClan when it died only to be killed over and over and over? No, they couldn't be that cruel. The prey StarClan hunted were only imagination. Or were they? She would never know until she joined them. She had so many questions, about life, about everything around her. She wanted to sigh again. Her mother had always told her she thought too much about others and how they felt, that she never thought about herself. But what did she want? Peace, love, someone to brush beside and stay with forever. True love. A friend. That's all she had ever wanted. She didn't want the killing, the fighting, the wars. She wanted love.

[maroon]Casting a look at the apprentice, he stopped midstep, staring down at the smaller cat. "Featherpaw, what are you thinking about?" He meowed, voice grim. He knew that every cat deserved to have their own personal thoughts, and that mindreaders were pesky little snoops. Yet, at the same time, it angered him to know that it was possible for cats to be conspiring in their heads without anyone knowing. Just like Moon. That filthy little traitor. He held back a snarl of fury and allowed his eyes to calm until a silence hung in the air as he waited for his apprentice's response.[/maroon]

Dropping the rabbit on the ground, she stared up at her mentor, slightly surprised. Had it been that obvious that her thoughts were full of pity and compassion? That she was thinking more about the prey than the hunter, her clan-mates, and herself. "I'm thinking about the life of the prey we take; what it was like. If they have ancestors like we do or they just go to join StarClan and end up being killed again. Or if there is anything at all for them," she meowed, honestly. She stared into Thornstrike's eyes now. "What do you think? Do they live like us, is large families or just stay with their siblings and try and survive?" She hesitated. Should she? Or shouldn't she. There was never any harm in telling the truth, in her opinion. "I was also thinking about love and friendship. There's so much more to life than anyone could imagine. We have the ability to love with so much passion, but also we can hate and burn with such rage. The world is filled in a balance of light and dark," she meowed, an intelligence that was never meant for a cat of her age.

[maroon]The tom was silent for a long moment as the sun sank farthed from the sky. When he did speak, his voice was quieter than before. "Well, what do rabbits think of us? In their eyes, are we the same as foxes and badgers to us? To them, we are probably just predators, creatures to avoid. Only, we have higher chances against out predators because we have teeth and claws to fight with. They have those too, but they are used differently. And does it really matter? Living with a big family? In the end, they will turn on each other, and they will seperate anyways." His voice came out in a growl, and a dark shadow passed over his eyes at her next comment. He spoke in a whisper, though his voice was filled with cold venom. When he looked up at her once more, green pools had changed to a terrifying black, darkened by the coming night sky. "Love? LOVE?! Love is just a foolish game that cats play to save themselves from their realization that death will take them. We all fear dying alone, that is why we made up the stupid idea of 'love'. In the end, it won't save you. And you are wrong about 'balance'. If dark and light were equal, there would be no such thing as war. The darkness always starts off stronger than the light. That is how battles start and end. If they were the same, there would be no need for fighting. None would have to prove they are stronger, and none would die if neither was the better." He snarled, whirling around and facing his back to her. Picking up the rabbit once more, he cast her a dark look before padding back towards camp. However, he didn't wait for her this time. His limbs brought him sprinting across the moors, paws thudding on the ground as he raced full speed back to the center of Windclan territory. Right now, he wanted to get away from the she-cat. Her words brought too many memories and emotions in him, and that had made him angry with her. More anger than he had ever felt before, even towards Night.[/maroon]
