Have you ever had trouble thinking of a name for your cat, or unable to come up with either the prefix or suffice of the name? Want a good name that's both unique, but also warrior-worthy and literate? If you ever need help with a name, read this guide, and you can also head over to the Clan names game in the games board to find some. If you have any questions feel free to PM Silentstar.
------
Step 1: Choosing a prefix.
In the life of a warrior cat that prefix of a kit is usually chosen by the appearance or the first thoughts that goes through the mother, or father's mind when they look down at their kit. Let's say if you have a ginger kit with blue eyes. You could call her Gingerkit, Russetkit, Redkit, Foxkit, Firekit, or Sunkit. The names do not have to be chosen right away. Let's say the kit is very kind and gentle, and loves to play with her nursery den mates. She could be Brightkit, Birdkit, Songkit, or anything that makes you think of light. But if she was a dark, mean kit, she could be called Darkkit, Moonkit, Nightkit, or Hiddenkit. The names 'Thunder', 'River', 'Shadow', 'Wind', 'Sky', and 'Star', are never to be used in a cat's prefix, unless relating to a certain plot or something in the kit's past, though it is very rare. Those names can be used in the suffice of the name, but not the prefix.
Step 2: Choosing a suffix.
The suffix of the name of a warrior cat is only added when that cat changes from an apprentice, to a warrior. Going back to Gingerkit, when she becomes a warrior, her name can be many things based on appearance. Gingerstripe, Gingerfur, Gingerpelt, Gingerstreak, Gingerspots, Gingerstorm, and Gingerheart. For her personality it could be: Gingerheart, Gingerclaw, Gingerstorm, and Gingerfang. There are many names to chose from, just for one cat, and they are best if they explain either her appearance, personality, or both.
Choosing a name is one of the simplest ways of creating a warrior cat. Try not to make copies of cats already in the books, and hopefully choose something that makes sense.
