Auburnpaw studied her feet for a few moments before calming her excitement down. I get to have the leader as my mentor! Awesome! she thought to herself, smiling. The warm daylight glowed on her skin, sparkling the forever scar crested on her forehead. Nothing could ruin this day, no evil rain could pelt down, no lightening could crackle. Only sunshine. Soon the black she-cat would arrive, and they'd explore the territory. This day, she solemnly swore, will be one of the best days of my life.
Purring in contempt, she patiently waited for her mentor.

OOC: Sorry I didn't notice this at first. xD.
IC: The black she-cat wasn't far behind today. She gave her deputy the orders of what to do today, including the patrols, explaining that she was beginning her apprentice's training today. Silentstar padded over to her ginger apprentice, waiting with excitement for the day of training to begin. She felt a prickle of pride deep inside her, to have such an energetic, ready to learn-looking apprentice to train. "Good morning, Auburnpaw," she purred as she padded over, head and tail raised with the instinctive authority of any clan leader. "You're ready for training now," she noticed immediately, seeing the anticipation in her paws. She raised her head and looked out into the beautiful lush forest. Today's going to be a great day. Especially for training, she thought, loving the sun on her fur, turning the black into a very dark brown tint. In her mind she was going over where they were going to explode today. The first destination was the Riverclan Border. Then she would circle around around the borders before heading deeper into the territory; the training hollow, snake rocks, owl tree, and great sycamore; and also the tree-cut place. "Let's go," she meowed, heading towards SunningRocks.

[Ah, that's all right.]
Auburnpaw felt a wave of pride wash over her, and she purred. With such great weather, prey would come out, and it wouldn't freeze your pelt off to try to walk around. Something poked at her from the ground, a stick. Ignoring it, she looked at Silentstar, keeping a gaze of awe with her mentor. The apprentice smiled in delight, then asked, "Where are we going to today?"

Silentstar glanced back at her apprentice and shared her thoughts. "First we're going to patrol along all the borders so you can get to know the scents, or smells of the other clans," she meowed, emphasizing smells when the thought of walking along the ShadowClan border, beside the ThunderPath, strayed across her mind. "Then we're going to travel farther inward through the territory so you can see all those great places the warriors and apprentices are talking about all the time," she purred, remembering how much she had wanted to see the places that all the other cats spoke about when she was a kit. "If we have time after that we can start training some hunting skills. You've heard of the hunting crouch, right?" She meowed, thinking of the skill only ThunderClan used. The hunting crouch was when they stored all the strength in their hind legs for the final leap to catch the prey. No other clans used it.

Auburnpaw listened intently, hearing the plan for training today. It made her paws twitch with excitement, and she beamed. Finally, a chance to explore more of ThunderClan territory! She remembered telling all the kits in the nursery how she'd be the bravest apprentice, venturing the unknown, and it might be the time today. The she-cat replied, "I know it, I think everyone knows it." She blushed slightly. "But I don't really know how to do it."

Silentstar let out a soft purr of amusement. "No one knows it until they try it. And it turns out being one of the easiest skills you learn as an apprentice," she added, remembering everything she learned when she was in training. She was better at hunting than fighting, so of course it all came easier to her than much else. But it was pretty simple crouching down, leaning back to your haunches and readying for a leap. The sweet, fishy scent of RiverClan filled her glands and she slowed. The smoothness beneath her paws and the gurgling of the river told her they had reached SunningRocks. She raised her tail for Auburnpaw to halt. "Smell that? That's the scent of RiverClan. Just from the smell, tell me what you can understand about their life? And where they live," she added, nodding towards the other side of the river where the reeds were tall and long, and the river stretched in a zig-zag path throughout the territory as far as her eyes could see.

Auburnpaw stopped, noticing the strange scent. It filled her nostrils, and she shook it off. It was so unfamiliar, so...watery. Like fresh salt water, the aroma of fish, but also a disgusting rank of Twoleg trash. The smell that reminded her of the Carrion Place. So far, though, no tree or forest. The apprentice looked strangely at Silentstar, then replied to her question. "They don't live in the forest, more the river. But not many marshes. Their diet is a lot of fish, but telling from the other smell, the river's contaminated..." She ended kind of suddenly, really unsure.

Silentstar paused and opened her jaws to taste the air herself, her lip curling with disgust as the stench of twolegs wafted from the river. Her disgust changed to anxiety and concern though as she wondered if any of the warriors were ill. Then she reminded herself that it was Green-Leaf. The water was always polluted with twoleg trash in Green-Leaf. She glanced at her apprentice. "They live in the middle of a river, an island. They stuff themselves with fish each season, but in Green-Leaf twolegs throw their trash in the river and the fish sometimes become ill. In the winter, the river freezes over and there is more border trouble over SunningRocks," she meowed, although it almost came out as a sigh as she thought about all the fighting and bloodshed that had happened just over a small portion of sun-stained rocks beside the river. How many warriors had died in fights over this small piece of land? RiverClan and ThunderClan both had great losses on each side.

''Wasn't there also border trouble with WindClan with the other river?" Auburnpaw asked worried. Rumors had spread like quicksilver about RiverClan also battling the cats on the moors. Why doesn't RiverClan just give that river? she thought angrily, they already have one. And from the smell, there's probably not a whole lot in the other one... Her conscious had trailed off, and a new smell hit her. The smell of blood, the smell of cats. "I think they're battling with cats right now, smelling the blood."

OOC: =o We should have a battle between ThunderClan and RiverClan soon, xD.
IC: Silentstar's thoughts had wandered back to when there had been a battle that had raged on this border when she was an apprentice. One of her apprentice friends had died in that battle from his injuries; he had always been an arrogant fighter, but also a good friend. How she missed him now. Auburnpaw's words jolted her back to the living word and she blinked with surprise at how she had lost her focus. "Yes, you're right," she murmured, pricking her ears and listening intently. In the distance a furious hiss echoed among the air. She grew even more worried now. Are cats getting hurt? What's the worth of ripping each other apart if we could just talk out the problem? She wondered, wishing the other leaders and clans could understand her peaceful attitude. She glanced down at her apprentice. "Let's keep going," she urged. "There's nothing we can do here. This is WindClan and RiverClan's fight." She turned to pad away, leading the way away from SunningRocks.

Auburnpaw offered one hasty glance at RiverClan before quickly following her mentor. Why was there always fighting? Personally, she hated the satisfaction of ripping through fur and flesh. It felt guilty, agonizing. The apprentice swallowed hard, a lump forming in her throat. Though her legs felt like jello, she refused to stay and listen to the shrieks of protest and pain. Secretly, she had hoped to go and help. However, Silentstar was right and this was only their battle. But the thought that she was only sitting around when cats were dying touched her and crawled through her whole body. Ignoring it and grunting, she quickened her pace to catch up with her mentor. She wanted to train hard and end her first day as a good one. But going here certainly didn't help. "Would ShadowClan take advantage of the fight?" Her voice trembled, like a leaf shaking of an avalanche or earthquake. The Clan of marshes were always grabbing territory from others, ruthlessly taking land. With WindClan and RiverClan having an open spot of weakness, they could go and step in. In a bad way. OCC: That's be cool. The first battle! =^.^=

Silentstar padded on, ignoring the sounds of the fighting. She wished she could do something, but one leader and an apprentice could not stop an entire fight from continuing. When cats were fighting there was no to stop them unless you leaped right into the middle of it; which wasn't a smart idea in a big fight. At the next question she stopped walking and thought for a moment. ShadowClan wasn't always the most... Compassionate clan in the forest and usually were the first to enjoy bloodshed, but she didn't see how this fight had anything to do with them. And even though they were the worst behaved clan, she doubted that Thrushstar would take this problem to cause his own. "It depends on the problem. The RiverClan-WindClan river is nowhere near the ShadowClan border. It's closer to us than them. I doubt Thrushstar even knows about it unless he sent spies. But when he learns about it there might be more of a problem," she meowed. She wasn't going to lie to her own apprentice. She knew trouble when there was some.

"Yeah, but what about Gatherings?" She pressed, determined to find an answer. No Clan was ever good at hiding weakness except ShadowClan of course. Regardless, the truce promised for peace. But what about traveling to them? Nothing bound peace then. And if those two Clans didn't come...shudders. But she shook it away, ignoring the battle. She continued along their route.
