Prairiestep, out on her usual sunhigh hunt, padded beside the river. She watched as the water lazily drifted downstream, sometimes she saw a flash or a glimmer in the water as fish passed by. These hunts were her relaxing time, she loved to just stroll beside the river, hunting on her way back. Sometimes, just for the fun of it, Prairiestep would jump into the river and swim. The white flecked she-cat almost never went on these hunts with anyone else, and hated when she was scheduled for a sunhigh patrol.
Prairiestep padded along, lifting her head toward the sun and closing her eyes. She let the bright sun warm her face and fur as she walked, taking in every momment of it. As she finaly dropped her head, Prairiestep her a twig crack in the bushes. It was very close, she could almost smell whatever it was. The brown and white she-cat lifted her head, opened her mouth, closed her eyes, and inhaled deeply, trying to figure out what she had heard. All Prairiestep knew, was that it was not a cat.
After a few more heartbeats, she kept walking. Soon she heard a rustling behind her. Heart racing, Prairiestep turned around, every fur on her body standing up. Back arched, Prairiestep hissed at what she thought was an enemy. It turned out to be a Squirrel racing away. Calm down! You're more scared then a kittypet! Prairiestep scolded herself, wlking a little bit more bravely. After a while, Prairiestep relaxed, realizing mothing was after her. She then heard another russle, this time in a large shrub. Looking closely, Prairiestep saw two, piercing, yellow eyes looking at her from the shadows.
