Pantherclaw lead his apprentice toward the large twoleg bridge. This was their third stop on the tour of clan boundaries. He had just finished showing the young tom the river, and before that, the Thunderclan border. So far Owlpaw was doing a great job, but this next part of the tour is what made Pantherclaw nervous. It wasn't because the warrior was afraid he would mess up as a mentor, but because this was where twoleg monsters crossed in their territory...and his apprentice's father happened to have died here...Patherclaw tried hard not to look very uneasy as he approached the bridge. He looked back at Owlpaw, wondering how the tom would react to this place. "This is the twoleg bridge." the warrior began. "Twolegs take their giant monsters across it sometimes. We believe this is so they don't get wet..." Pantherclaw indicated how the bridge never let the monsters touch the water. He was still watching Owlpaw nervously.

Owlpaw shivered nervously at the sight of the bridge, he knew cats to have died in places like these, including Robinheart. His whiskers twitched blankly when he thought of his father. Its not like he had known him very well, after all he had only been a kit when he passed, but just imagining it made the skinny tom cat flinch. "Come on mouse-brain...you can't show your scared on the first day of training!" He argued silently to himself, turning his wide eyes to stare out at the small Thunder path. Even when he had first woken up that morning, Owlpaw's usual anxiety kicked in. He wanted nothing more to impress his mentor and show everybody that he wasn't always scared. After Pantherclaw finished speaking, the Riverclan apprentice was surprised to find the warriors gaze fixed on him as if he were waiting for his reaction. At first the brown tabby did nothing, but after a few moments he smiled lightly and nodded. "Two-legs are weird," he meowed quitely, hoping that today he would be able to make a good impression.

Pantherclaw didn't see Owlpaw's moment of fear. He read the tom's words to be brave and collected. "Yeah they are. Why would anybody want to climb into one of those monsters? I would be scared it would decide it didn't want to let me out again..." the warrior purred. His words were a joke, but also true. He could just imagine getting into the giant beast, and then being digested slowly because it didn't want to let him out...Pantherclaw suppressed a shiver, and returned his attention to training Owlpaw. "Are you ready to see the Windclan border?" the tom asked the younger cat. He respected how well Owlpaw handled seeing the site of his father's demise. However, he didn't think he should torment Owlpaw by wasting time hanging around the area.

Purring in amusement at his mentors reply, Owlpaw momentarily forgot about being scared. So Pantherclaw got scared of things as well? Although the answer was obvious, the skinny tabby tom couldn't help but a feel a warm sensation of relief prick at his skin. When the warrior asked if he was ready to see the border, the Riverclan apprentice jolted inside. What if they saw Windclan warriors? This unsettled him slightly, but ignoring the anxcious feeling in the pit of his stomach, Owlpaw glanced up at the larger tom. "The Windclan border? Oh, okay, " He mewed, nodding in the process.

Pantherclaw missed the look of anxiety that flashed across his apprentice's face. He nodded to his apprentice and began to lead the way to the Windclan border. It wasn't very far, just over a hill and around a bend. The river curved away from the border, so they left its peaceful sight and headed toward a place where the grass became longer and less thicker. A smell of heather and open land hit the roof of Pantherclaw's mouth. "This would be the Windclan border." he meowed to Owlpaw. "Can you smell the difference?" he added. The open Moore land looked so wide and coverless. Pantherclaw had to admit he liked having a nice bush or shrub around, in case of danger. He especially liked being able to slip into the river if ever he needed. Most things wouldn't follow you in there...He snapped from his thoughts to listen for his apprentice's answer.

"Can you smell the difference?" Blinking, Owlpaw turned his head to look out at the rolling hills of swaying grass. It fascinated him that a cat could ever live there, but at the same time it scared him, how would you hide while so out in the open? Realizing that this was the reason Windclans cats where so fast, the tabby shook his head and returned his thoughts back to Pantherclaw's question. Standing, he opened his mouth and closed his eyes. It was easy to detect the scent of his home clan, with its comforting smells of the river and his clanmates, but the Windclan scent seemed almost hard to catch...though the wind blowing away from him didn't help. Either way, it was still there, the smell being a mixture of grass, herbs and faintly rabbits. Opening his eyes again, Owlpaw kneaded the ground nervously. "Yeah," He replied, "I can smell it alright."

Pantherclaw knew that his apprentice's answer was an honest one. "Good job. It took me a little while to find the smell the first time I was here. And with the wind blowing away from us, you must have one good nose!" the tom complimented Owlpaw. He then flicked his tail for the smaller tom to follow him. Pantherclaw trotted away from Windclan and headed for the borer of Shadowclan. The trees became more dense near this area, and the majority of them were pine. Sunlight barely came though this area, explaining the name "Shadow". When Pantherclaw reached the official border, he looked back at Owlpaw. "What do you smell here?" he asked the tom. Pantherclaw could smell the strong scent of marsh and toadstool. He might even prefer living in Windclan with no shelter, than in Shadowclan with so much shelter and so much stink...
