Burntpaw walked through the surrounding birch and willow trees. The sound of the river drifting peacefully through the air. His mentor was close by him, and they were heading to a clearing to train with Dawnpaw and Shadestar. Burntpaw was ecstatic. He was not only an apprentice at last, but he had an awesome mentor, and a great friend to practice with. He felt like life was going great!
Shadestar lead her apprentice to a clearing she had asked Thymemoon to meet her at. The leader, deputy, and their apprentices were to have a training session there today. The first session where the younger cats would learn to hunt. Shadestar smiled. She couldn't wait to teach Dawnpaw the trick she knew to catch mice.

Thymemoon walked through the forest to her best friend, and her apprentice by her side. She felt happy that she had such good fortune to have both. She looked at Burntpaw by her side, who she could tell was excited as she was.
Dawnpaw looked for Burntpaw, and when she saw him, it was all she could do to not pounce on him in excitement...

Burntpaw saw his friend sitting with the leader, and noticed the excitement that seemed to be rolling off of her very fur. He grinned widely. He had to hold himself back from laughing and running at her. Instead he looked up at his mentor, and then to Shadestar, trying to guess what they would learn first.
Shadestar was pleased to see Thymemoon and Burntpaw enter the clearing, right on time. "Thymemoon. Burntpaw." she dipped her head to each, unable to restrain her cheerful smile. "How about some hunting?" she suggested with a gleam in her light blue eyes. Her gray fur appeared sleek in the sunlight, and her entire energy seemed to crackle with gladness to be mentoring again.
Burntpaw nodded in return to Shadestar. When the gray she-cat suggested hunting, Burntpaw felt his paws tingle. He had been wanting to learn proper hunting skills since, well, he guessed before he knew what hunting even was! It was an instinct to seek that skill for himself. The young tom flash an excited look to Dawnpaw.
