Thrushstar rolled his eyes. "If you had stopped studying for a while, you would have noticed he had fallen in love with a WindClan tom." He heaved in, then looked in disgust. Whisperrain was a kind, gentle soul, but obstinate in her opinions, always trying something new for the most recent debate. The brown tom wasn't like that. Sighing, his anxiety to leave swelled inside of him, but he refused, planting his paws to the ground. "If this is supposed to help me, or stable my confidence, it isn't working, so you can save your breath. That I'm actually a leader? I DON'T WANT TO BE LIKE REEDSTAR! DO YOU GET THAT!!" He shook his head, regretting his latest comment. "Look, just, please get it. It's not as simple as mouse is mouse, tree is tree and cat is cat. I don't think I'm functioning properly."

OOC: Uhhh, Lightshed wasn't conspiring. She broke the Warrior Code by falling in love with a Windclan tom.
A crooked smile appeared on the she-cat's muzzle, and she shook her head slowly. "What, do you think I'm a fool? Of course I know nothing in this world is simple. If it were, than there would be no reason for warriors to even exist." Her tail flicked, and her eyes narrowed. The gentle aura the she-cat usually gave off had been invaded by the hate she had felt all those moons ago, and she could feel the anger and hurt boiling inside her. "Besides, unlike you, I don't take much interest in other cats' problems. If you were anything like Reedstar, you would've noticed that by now. But you're not, so I'll just live with the fact that what we wish for isn't always what we get. Actually, most of the time it isn't." A shadow seemed to pass over the Medicine Cat, and a cold breeze twisted around her, vivid eyes burning. "I am not here to comfort you. Nor do I plan on boosting anyone's confidence, so don't tell me I'm doing a bad job of 'stabilizing' you. If I plan on accomplishing something, I'll tell you straight-forwardly. I hate cats... Who beat around the bush."

[Edited.] Thrushstar spat. "I didn't need comfort," he snorted, "but chatting mindlessly doesn't help." The leader rolled his eyes, but he hoped she wouldn't notice. He didn't like complaining or openly showing disrespect to anyone, but he had to let his feelings out, and that was the only way. Desperately longing to change the subject, he replied, "Do you like being the medicine cat?"

Sighing, she looked away, watching the sun fading behind clouds. "Yes and no. I feel calm when I'm around herbs, and I like how it feels watching a cat smile when they are able to walk on their own paws once more. However, I do not enjoy the pressure, the rules. But most of all, I do not appreciate the stares." Her eyes narrowed, and she had to restrain her claws from flexing. Because of Lightshed... When the other clans say they can not trust Shadowclan, not even the medicine cat, they do not know who it effects. Looking over at the tom, she flicked both ears. "And what about you? Do you like being leader?"

Thrushstar strained in his mind, pondering the question. Of course he enjoyed serving his Clan, but all the pressure and the things to do...but he'd always remain leading until he died. Sighing, his orange eyes glowed at Whisperrain, and morosely he replied, "You have stress a lot, but I love serving my Clan to the best of my abilities."

Nodding in respect at his answer, she glanced off to the side where a raven was pecking at something amidst the twoleg rubbish. "Well, everything has its pros and cons. Being a leader or medicine cat is no different." She flicked her ears at the bird, and, as if sensing the she-cat's presence, it flew off with a shiny object clasped between its beak. Sighing, the silver cat looked back at Thrushstar. "But in the end, I would say I am overall content as a Medicine Cat. Besides, it gives me an excuse to look for catnip." She joked, though her voice had grown softer. I am happy like this. Helping cats, being close with Starclan, but most of all, being able to learn more about myself. To find my own hidden potential, and to be proud of who I am. Blinking, her torquoise eyes rose once more to the clouds, and she smiled at the patterns they formed.

The leader turned to where Whisperrain was gazing, and saw the twisting, turning forms clouds were shaping into. With one last glance at them, he shifted his eyes to the medicine cat. "Yeah, I guess you're right," he admitted, softly looking almost through her. He stiffened slightly, waiting for her reply.

Blinking, she turned her gaze over to the tom. Well, I guess that's a first. She noted, realizing that throughout their entire conversation, they had not yet agreed on anything until then. Blinking, she also noticed how he seemed to be staring through her, and she wasn't sure if he was seeing something behind her or if he thought she was crazy. "What? I didn't get some twoleg junk on me, did I?" She meowed, standing up and turning a circle to make sure nothing had stuck to her fur.

Thrushstar almost jolted, realizing his careless stare. He quickly shook his head, and instead faced the soft soil and dry dead pine needles. "No, no, nothing.'' He quickly made the excuse, shaking his head faster now. The tom was sort of embarrassed now, hoping his cheeks blushing wouldn't be visible to Whisperrain.

Giving the tom one last strange look, she turned her gaze back to the Carrion Place. She couldn't smell it from where she was, but she could still imagine the acrid, sticky stench in her nose. Then a thought came to her head. It was a little random, but it was still a wonder nonetheless. Turning her head to face Thrushstar, the she-cat blinked curiously before asking, "Have you ever encountered a twoleg before? I know that most warriors have seen them inside the monsters on the Thunderpath, but have you ever actually gotten up close to one?" Twolegs were strange creatures. While they seemed foul and cruel with no consideration for the natural world, she had also witnessed their softer side. Why else did kittypets feel loyal to their 'house-folk'? Well, either some twolegs aren't so bad, or those kittypets just have bees in their brain. She herself wasn't sure if she would ever find it in her to trust the lumbering creatures. They could seem so immune and oblivious to the fact that other animals had feelings too. She didn't understand how it was possible to accept a creature that lacked a conscious.

He looked almost accusingly at the medicine cat, as if that was the wrong question. He shrugged lightly, wearing off the impersonating stare. No, he hadn't seen one, he had gotten captured by one. He flinched, remembering how curious and naive he was back then as an apprentice, how they had scooped him up like dung and shoved him into an alien cave. He shuddered. Every time he discussed the Twolegs it gave him shivers crawling up his spin. Finally awake from his dreamy-like memory, he replied curtly, "When I was an apprentice, I got captured by them. But soon I escaped and a moon after became a warrior."

Blinking, she noted the accusing look he gave her, but she remained silent, listening to the tom. "I don't understand twolegs... They're living creatures like us, yet every animal thinks in such a different way." Sighing, she stood up, spotting a familiar plant. Trotting over, she sniffed it and then plucked several leaves. Straightening up again, she walked back to Thrushstar and set them down. "Sorry, we're low on thyme, so I'm trying to get as much as I can find nowadays." She said, an apologetic tone in her voice.

Looking hastily at Whisperrain, he decided to assist the she-cat in finding herbs, like that thyme. He needed help from the deputy from time to time, so wouldn't the medicine cat need help too? Probably, since she didn't have an apprentice. Nothing was on his hands right now, so he voiced his offer. "Can I help look?'

Blinking, she was slightly startled by the offer. She had never really wondered if other cats took any interest at all in assisting others. Normally it was only if they had nothing else to do. Well, I guess he would be bored if I picked all the herbs and just let him stand there. Nodding gratefully, she replied, "Sure, that would be great. Thanks. Herbs like thyme have a stronger scent, so it shouldn't be hard to find them." She purred, scenting the air again before trotting over to a clump several fox-lengths away from the ones she had spotted earlier. Crouching down, she began biting off the stems. As she did so, thoughts filled her head. Normally, an apprentice would assist the Medicine Cat with these sort of tasks. It seemed as if she herself had been made Medicine Cat only several moons ago, and she had never imagined having an apprentice of her own. But one day, I will need one. I'm not that old... Am I? Blinking, she suddenly wondered what would happen if she died before she had the chance to train a successor. A look of horror crossed over her face before her common sense kicked in, causing her to shake her head and chastise herself. Mouse-brain; you've still got plenty of seasons left before you take on an apprentice, and even more time before you join Starclan... Hopefully. Holding back a laugh at her own paranoia, the she-cat finished selecting the ripest leaves before padding over to the small pile she had made and dropping them into it.

Thrushstar purred in contempt. He always liked to help any of his clan-mates no matter what the cause was for. He watched her as she selected some plants and placed them in a pile. Padding through his mind was if she would much rather enjoy an apprentice to help her. Whisperrain could teach them all the herbs, where as the leader was a clutz. His role in ShadowClan was leading it, not healing it. So of course he was hopeless when it came to plants and herbs and berries, but he still walked over and drank in a fragrance of thyme, then bit a stalk off and offered it to the she-cat.
