Snaketail sat near the bank of the marsh, his tail wrapped tightly around his paws. His mind was far away, in another time. However, the location was not so far away. As it happened, the brown tom was thinking of a time spent at this very same location. The day that had changed him forever. Snaketail had gone to hunt alone, met up with the she-cat Hawktail, who until that point, had basically been a stranger. The other warrior had revealed deep emotional scars in her past, and he had ended up becoming very close with her. So close, in fact, that by the end of the day, they had fallen in love. It was by far the best day snaketail could recall ever having. Now, the warrior sat facing the marsh, memories swirrling in his mind like happy winds. He smiled to himself. A twig snapped behind him, and he looked up. No longer smiling, in case it was trouble that had snapped the twig...

A dark tabby swished from the reeds and walked up to her love. "I really need to watch where I walk. Every time I've approached you, I break something..." the she-cat grimaced at the twig that she had snapped. "If everything was out of my way..." Hawktail ventured quietly. If only everything was out of her way, she wouldn't have snapped that twig. I wouldn't have done that if he had been out of the way, too. The thought managed to slip into her mind, and the she-cat narrowed her eyes. But I would have never met Snaketail if that's what had happened. Hawktail was beginning to get confused, so she allowed the subject to slip away into the air. To be unspoken for now.

Snaketail's defensive attitude quickly dissipated. "Hawktail!" he purred with a smile. He nuzzled his mate affectionately. The brown tom purred with amusement at Hawktail's joke. He saw something cross her face. A distant something, though he might have just imagined it. "Having things out of the way would be nice... The prey would have no place to hide!" Snaketail joked. The thought of a world where prey could not dash into a thorny bush, or fly up to a tree too quickly, was entertaining. After all, the clans would never starve! But they would still have the rains to fear. "I guess everything would flood when it rained though, and with no cover from all that wet..." the warrior shivered inwardly at the thought. He smiled once more, thankful for the trees that kept the water from drowning him when it rained.

Hawktail purred with laughter. "Yeah, I came to the Clans sopping wet and muddy; it's not fun." Hawktail recalled when she had been Hawk, and had dashed into the Clan with her pelt sticking uncomfortably to her and dripping wet with the rain from the previous day. She shuttered at the memory. "If only the prey couldn't run and we didn't drown every rain... Tell me when you can figure that one out, 'kay?" the she-cat added suddenly, nudging her lover playfully. Looking at Snaketail, Hawktail couldn't help but purr and touch her nose to his.

Snaketial laughed. "Oh yes. And while I'm at it, I might as well find out how to make twolegs nice and dogs not hungry!" he joked. The brown tom growled playfully as his mate bumped him. He smiled and responded with a purr as his nose connected with Hawktail's. So much in his life had changed due to this she-cat. And yet he was happier than he had ever been. He got a mischievous look in his eye, then pounced forward onto the she-cat. He laughed lightly. "It seems like every time we are out here together, we can't stop knocking each other around!" Snaketail recalled the play fighting that had lead to their romance. "I doubt we'll ever have a truce, right?" he purred, his smile still wide and bright. He lay down next to Hawktail, giving her ear and affectionate lick.

"Right!" Hawktail meowed joyfully. After the she-cat received a lick on the ear, she swatted her mate's ear playfully. "And don't think that I'll always return your licks!" she joked. Her eyes softening, the dark she-cat snuggled closer to Snaketail and licked his cheek. "At least not in the same spot," she murmured.
"Hey, Snaketail?" Hawktail asked suddenly. "Why didn't you get scared of me when I told you that I was a murderer? I mean, if I had told anyone else, I'm sure that they would have screamed and ran away with their tails tucked." Hawktail looked at her mate. He seemed like any other cat she knew, except for that he loved her. She just didn't understand how he had had such a calm response to her. Maybe it was because she was having a breakdown, and you don't just freak out at a murderous she-cat in a tantrum. Hawktail almost laughed out loud at what she had just summed herself up to.

Snaketail laughed. Then he listened to his mate's question. After a moment of thought, Snaketail meowed, "I suppose it was because I thought about all the details of your history. Some cats might have just heard murder. However, I heard the pain and suffering that Grey had caused you." Snaketail half grimaced at the rouge's name. Even though the tom was now dead, Snaketail could privately hate his memory. After all he had done to Hawktail? No way was Snaketail going to forget about it...He looked once more into the eyes of his love. "I guess there was also a feeling. A hunch, you could call it. That you were not a horrible cat. That you were more angry with yourself than was necessary. That you were a great cat underneath the hurt..." He was being fully honest. He realized now that he had always liked and trusted Hawktail...

OOC:: Aww! That was so cute!
Hawktail was stunned at Snaketail's words. Her sight suddenly became blurred as tears of joy filled them. "Oh, Snaketail!" she meowed, pressing up to her mate. A loud purr burst from deep in her chest. Snuggling close to her loved one, Hawktail nuzzled his chin lovingly. "You're just too good for me. I'm the luckiest she-cat in the world with you at my side." Hawktail meant her words.

Snaketail purred with equal strength. His heart was full to bursting with love for the she-cat nuzzling him. "Good that you specified 'she-cat', or I might have said I was competition!" he joked, licking Hawktail's forehead sweetly. The tom couldn't imagine a better way to spend an afternoon. Sitting with the she-cat he thought he could only dream of. Knowing that she felt the same sort of love for him... It was all so perfect. He suddenly caught an image of the same scene, only with two young balls of fur cuddling with them. Snaketail almost gasped when his thoughts settled on kits. At any rate, his jaw dropped. He was thinking of kits! Now there was something he wouldn't have wanted before Hawktail...

Hawktail looked up at her mate at his sudden stiffness. Cocking her head to one side, she asked, "Are you alright, Snaketail? You seem shocked." Hawktail's eyes were worried. The she-cat ran her tail soothingly down the tom's back. Shaking her head, Hawktail meowed, "You don't have to answer." Snuggling up to her mate's side, the tabby rested her head on Snaketail's shoulder. She had once sat with Gray like this, but he was much stiffer and he never listened to her when she talked to him. Snaketail was loose, and he listened. Maybe the ex-rouge could get settled down very well with Snaketail. Maybe to the point of starting a family. "Snaketail?" the tabby asked, "Have you ever had kits before?"

"I was thinking of..." Snaketail began, then heard Hawktail ask her question. "No. But, well, I was just thinking of what it would be like for us if...Well if we had kits." he meowed. He was nervous to say this, as this was the biggest suggestion of his life. Even so, the tom couldn't help but smile as he did. The thought of a family with this she-cat just made him too happy. He waited patiently for his mate's response. His smile was still there, though his heart was pounding with excitement and nerves.

OOC:: That's fine... It looks cool...
Hawktail simply stared ahead of her, thinking. She thought about sitting in camp, watching bundles of fur tumble and play, mewling loudly. She thought about having kits snuggled up to her belly to feed. "That would be interesting, now wouldn't it?" the she-cat said after a long moment of silence. She could hear the tom's heart pounding. pressing comfortingly to him, Hawktail purred softly. It would be nice if she could settle down and have a family, but she wasn't sure. "But I'm not sure on how to be a mother. I might do something wrong." Hawktail had stopped purring. She looked up at Snaketail with her green eyes. "What if I mess up? I don't know what I would do."

Snaketail purred. He saw the uncertainty in Hawktail's eyes. "Don't worry. It isn't like I am an expert at this sort of thing. So Long as you don't plan to feed the kits to a fox, I am sure you would do great! But take time to decide anyway. I don't want to pressure you." the tom meowed, his meow filled with comfort. Hawktail was nervous about a family too, but she seemed hopeful. He was really glad to hear she would consider having a family with him. Snaketail gave his mate a soft lick across her ear. "Besides. We are young! I don't see the need to rush. After all, I don't plan on, you know, going anywhere, any time soon." he joked, leaving the anywhere rather up in the air. One never should jinx themselves with the talk of an early demise...

Hawktail purred and accepted the lick. "I would hope you're not," she meowed. She wanted Snaketail there forever. She just couldn't imagine that that probably was not going to happen. Smiling softly, the she-cat snuggled closer to the male cat. "I guess I would do okay. It's a learning process, right? No one is ever really prepared for parenting." Hawktail was mainly saying this to help sooth herself. She knew that she didn't really need to tell Snaketail. But, he would probably end up listening to her...

Snaketail had a sudden thought. "It is a learning process, but I really wish I had been a mentor..." he meowed, a smile on his face. "Think about it. You have to teach and look out for a young cat then! It would be the perfect way to get ready for kits!" the tom purred. He looked at Hawktail. "Not that I think you would really need getting ready. I am confident you would do great. It's myself I would worry about!" the tom laughed. He looked down at his mate again. Her soft gaze, and her beautiful fur. He couldn't imagine her making a poor mother. Not when she was so sweet with everything else...
