A blue-gay she-cat walked by the Great Sycamore looking for some prey. She had had nothing to do that day so she had decided to go hunting by herself. She padded along quietly on the sunny day, which made it look like a promising day to catch some prey for her Clan. Dreamstep suddenly saw a mouse poke out from under a bush, and nibble on a berry. The she-cat automatically dropped into the hunter's crouch. She silently walked ahead, so she could get closer to the mouse, and pounce. She had surprised the mouse and gave it a deathly bite in the neck. Dreamstep quickly buried the mouse and started to walk again.

Palefur was on his was to the Great Sycamore for a hunt, when he caught the scent of thunderclan cat in the air. It was not yet stale, so whoever it was must have passed his area recently. He felt like hunting with a friend today, so he decided to follow the smell. Winding through the forest, he reach the Great sycamore to discover Dreamstep, hunting alone. The she-cat made a very clean catch of a mouse, before burying the creature and beginning to move on. Palefur stepped out from behind a shrub. "That was a very nice catch Dreamstep." he meowed in a complimentary tone. The pale tom smiled at his clanmate. He wasn't used to asking to join a cat to hunt, as he normally proffered to keep to himself. The warrior looked awkward for a moment, unsure of what else to say. After a brief stretch of thought he settled on the right words. "I was planning to hunt around here as well. You wouldn't be bothered if I hunted with you, would you?" Palefur asked.

Beechflight puffed up defensively when she smelled another cat, but then saw that it was just Palefur. She went back to normal size and listened to what he had to say. "Thanks, and you can hunt with me I don't care. I don't have anyone else to hunt with. Where do you want to go?" She didn't care where they went, she just wanted to hunt.

Palefur smiled, as a moment of relief engulfed him. "Thanks." he replied. The tom glanced around, sniffed the air, and smiled. "This smells like a prey party. Perhaps we would do best here." Palefur meowed. He walked over to the roots of the great tree. Sniffing for prey scents, he locked on to the smell of wood pigeon. There it was, pecking around the next root over from his own. He crept forward slowly, somehow managed to silently slink over the root separating his target from himself. He was now a couple mouse lengths away. Pressurizing his back legs, Palefur released the pressure in a fast lunge forward, catching the wood pigeon before it knew what was coming. Palefur stepped away from the tree, smiling.

Dreamstep watched as Palefur tracked down and killed a wood pigeon. "Nice catch," she meowed. She hoped that she could find some more prey, other than the mouse she had caught. She smelled the air and smelled a vole. She instinctively dropped into the hunter's crouch and crawled forward. She pounced on the vole before it had time to react.

Palefur smiled in acceptance of Dreamstep's compliment. He then watched as the she-cat stalked a vole and caught it with ease. Her strength as a hunter was undeniable. Watching her hunt suddenly evoked strange emotions in the tom. He felt happy, to a point of giddiness. Also, he became very self conscious, his tail flicking once nervously. Luckily, this happened while Dreamstep's attention seemed to be on her prey. Palefur collected himself, taking a deep breath. "That was brilliant." he purred, perhaps a bit too enthusiastically. He smiled somewhat sheepishly. The tom suppressed the urge to flick his tail again. Instead, he rose to his paws, and distracted himself with tasting the air again. The prey scent was more faint now, as the two cats were clearly cleaning this patch of forest up. Palefur located a smell of mouse to his right, and followed. The creature was located a fox length or two away. He crept up slowly, taking care not to crack a twig or crunch a leaf. Within moments, he was on the mouse. He returned with a mouth full of mouse to where Dreamstep and the rest of their caught prey was waiting.

"Thanks and good catch," she meowed to him, "do you want to stay here and hunt, or go somewhere else?" She wondered if he wanted to go back to camp. Dreamstep almost never had something to do. She wished she had kits to keep her busy, but that might not happened. She almost sighed when she realized that Palefur might ask her why. She stopped and looked at him, waiting for an answer.

Palefur noticed an odd expression on Dreamstep's face. A distant emotion, faint, but there. He just couldn't be sure what it was. "I think that if we want to continue hunting, we should try a different spot. We are cleaning this area out." the light colored tom meowed. He smiled at Dreamstep, hoping to comfort her from whatever was troubling her. He wished he had the courage to ask what was wrong. However, confidence with other cats had not really ever been Palefur's thing...At least not since Glorykit...The thought of his deceased sister made Palefur's eyes cloud with sadness for a brief moment. He looked away to clear his head. When he placed his gaze once more on Dreamstep, no hint of his flash of sadness was visible.

"Yeah, where do you want to go?Or do you want me to choose?" Dreamstep didn't care where they went as long as they didn't go back to camp where there was nothing for the her to do. Thinking of that made her feelings go back to what they just were. She hoped that Palefur didn't notice, but he probably had.

Palefur was about to suggest they try near the sunning rocks when he noticed something about Dreamstep's eyes. They looked...lonely. "Lonely." the light colored tom meowed. His eyes widened when he realized the word had been spoken by himself, instead of just thought. "What I mean, I mean to say, I think..." he rambled a moment again before regaining control of his tongue. "You look rather lonely." he finished rather lamely. However, his eyes were full of genuine concern for the she-cat who stood before him. "Is everything, erm, alright?" Palefur asked. There was hesitation in his meow, as he wasn't sure whether pressing Dreamstep about her emotions was the proper thing to do at the moment. Then again, Palefur rarely felt truly certain of anything.

Dreamstep was disappointed that Palefur had seen her loneliness. "Well I want a mate, and I like Breathwhisp, but I don't know if he likes me, and I like you. Sorry if that scared you but I can't hide things like these. I hope you don't mind" She was surprised with how open she had been, but was glad she had been. That way if Palefur liked her, maybe they could have kits. But she would also have to tell Breathwhisp, so she could make the right decision about her mate.
OOC:Sorry i suddenly changed her color of writing. I forgot it was blue XD

Palefur was completely taken aback by Dreamstep's sudden burst of honesty. "I, well..." he began to reply, but just couldn't make his mind formulate a sentence. He liked Dreamstep a lot, that he was suddenly aware of. This had become especially obvious to him when she had mentioned Breathwhisp, and he had felt a surge of jealousy and anger toward the other tom. Something Palefur would normally never feel toward a fellow Thunderclan cat, even if they deserved it...Palefur decided to take a risk. "I like you a lot too Dreamstep. I think you are beautiful, funny, smart. A darn good warrior and cat." The light furred tom finished with a hopeful smile on his face. Maybe she would really like him back! Maybe they could fall in love and have kits and....Palefur's thoughts were swirling around him like a storm. He had not felt this hopeful in ages. Even though he was scared Dreamstep would reject him, he was still pleased to be this active in his own life once more.

Dreamstep was overjoyed when she heard that Palefur liked her also. "Why thank you and right back at you." She was wondering if he had the same thoughts that she had right now. Future kits, mates, and all of those kind of things. She would still have to talk to Breathwhisp, and she didn't want to hurt his feeling or Palefurs. But she had to make a decision. She couldn't have two mates. It was unthinkable.

Palefur smiled a broad grin. His eyes were officially brighter than usual, and his fur seemed tingly somehow. His joy was dampened by a dark storm cloud of a thought. Hadn't he seen Dreamstep talking with Breathwhisp many times before? Didn't it seem obvious that at least Breathwhisp liked the she-cat cat? Come to think of it, Dreamstep had shown signs of liking Breathwhisp right back. Thoughts of maybe having Dreamstep for a mate, or having kits with her became more fuzzy. He would love such a future, but couldn't be certain she would love it as well. She seemed to want kits and everything....But with him? Palefur felt self conscious once more, though he managed to hide it. He kept his smile, and his soft but happy gaze. Inside his heart, however, more painful confrontations were taking place. "So." was all he could think to say. Really, he would have liked to ask, 'What now' but that sounded rude in his head. The tom thought the better of it.

Dreamstep suddenly felt awkward. "Ok well I will choose soon weather I will be mates with you or Breathwhisp. I will choose on honesty and kindness more than strength." She knew that one or the other would be stronger and it wouldn't be fair to choose like that. She hoped no cat would hate her after this, though some cat would.
