Shadestar was caught off guard by her deputy's question. The leader looked at the ground a moment, thinking hard about how exactly to explain the answer. "Sort of." she meowed at last. "Well, we never really became mates. We flirted, joked, hung out together. No doubt we would have been mates eventually. But then..." her voice trailed off. Shadestar's eyes clouded with distant and painful memories. "He was murdered. By a rouge named Dixi. She was a monster of a rouge, who was determined that clan cats were scum. Her mission in life was to rid the forest of all clan blood cats. Graywhisker, that was the tom, died at her paws. She killed him while he defended two kits who had wandered from the camp. I was a new warrior at the time." Shadestar got very quiet, remembering her horror when the gray tom was brought back to camp dead. She had always regretted not being there to help him, but she had just not known what was happening... "Dixi was later found dead along side the Thunderpath. I felt no sadness when I discovered that the she-cat was no more. I only wish I had been able to fight her, to show her just what I thought of her..." Shadestar spat the last part of her story. Her rage at the rouge clearly remained, though buried deep inside. "I think you were a kit when they found her body." Shadestar added to Thymemoon.

I-I see... That is unfortunate. Hopefully, before your last life is taken, which i hope will be never, you will find someone to love you. she sighed and looked back at the water. I hope I find someone to love as well. she tried to imagine who that one cat for her would be, but could find anything.

Shadestar took a deep breath, focusing for a moment on the image of the tom she had loved herself. He was there, when she received her nine lives. He had given her the life of love. She secretly knew she would never have a mate now. She simply loved Graywhisker too much, and couldn't bring herself to love another. If she were a warrior, maybe it would be different. She would have more time to flirt, for one thing. However, as leader she was content to take care of her clan, and wait for the day she joined Starclan and Graywhisker. Finally shaking herself of these deep and emotional thoughts, the gray she-cat turned her blue gaze to Thymemoon. her deputy looked as sad as she had just felt. "What is it?" Shadestar couldn't help but ask. "You look, well, upset..." the leader's eyes became soft and concerned.

I'm just trying to think of the one who is right for me..... I don't seem to be able to focuse that much. she sighed and turned back to the river and scooped out a fish and killed it lazily.

Shadestar thought a moment. "Good catch." she meowed instinctively as her deputy caught a fish with little effort. "You will find someone. Want to talk it out with me? Talk about the toms in camp, and lets see if we can't find one you'd be interested in..." Shadestar suggested, her bright blue eyes gazing at Thymemoon. "I will help if I can." she added, a smile curling across her face.
OOC: First, mine was short and I'm sorry. Second, I have a tom in Riverclan who is available, if she really wants a mate badly...His name is Pantherclaw

Ooc: no Thornstrike is gonna be her mate........ but she could have a double mate.. keep one from another but have kitsd from both?!?! O.o Well and then she can choose between them... i mean if tht is ok with barketh.... ask her.....
Ic: I guess..... ok let's see. she smiled at her leader. Deep down she thought of Thornstrike. I won't ever forget you... you'll always be there in my heart... the first thing... she smiled again and sighed. I can barely remember their names...... I have to work harder to remember you know? she flushed with embarresment. I should really know their names by now, eh?

OOC: That's fine. I don't need a mate badly for Pantherclaw. You just stick to Thornstrike...=)
Shadestar laughed. "And I picked you for deputy..." she teased. She knew thymemoon wouldn't take that badly. One of the reasons she was deputy was because she was a very close and trusted friend of Shadestar's. Shadestar knew Thymemoon was a strong cat at heart, and they always seemed to understand each other. They had grown up and trained together afterall...."Well lets see. Icewreath, Pantherclaw..." began the leader, hoping that would strike Thymemoon's memory.

Yes, they are worthy toms, but I don't think that they would be the right ones for me. I don't think they could handle my.... Personality. Heck, they still don't like me from last battle. I just don't like fighting as much as i use to. It kinda scares me now, but I don't know why. It just makes me want to kill..... So I try to stay away. You remember my past, yes? After my parents death, I haven't been the same have I? she sighed and swatted at the water. changing back to the tom subject she laughed. Pantherclaw is a very handsome cat though!

Shadestar laughed. "Sometimes I can't even handle your personality!" she teased Thymemoon lightly. However, the leader stopped joking around when the talk became serious. "I understand why you wouldn't be eager to fight. It is an action brought on nine times out of ten by nothing but anger. The times when we use it to defend ourselves, normally happen when a stay creature attacks. The fighting among clan cats. Well that is basically pent up power hungry energy, and it gets released from one side or another. I myself don't much like a fight. I do it to be strong for the good of my clan. I would hardly choose to attack a cat for no reason..." Shadestar meowed understandingly. She then laughed again as Thymemoon mentioned Pantherclaw.

Well who else? Right now I'm thinking Pantherclaw.... she mewed akwardly. she giggled and snatched at a fish that came by suddenly. It was normal sized, but she was proud of it.

Shadestar smiled. Even in the world of cats, females needed time to just be females. Sitting here next to the river, talking boys with her friend. It was a perfect way to do that. Sometimes being leader gave off the impression that she was not feminine...Shadestar needed times like this to just relax and shake off the austere image that a leader had to present. "Well, I think he'd be a fine match for you..." Shadestar meowed, purring as Thymemoon caught a fish. The pride in her deputy's eyes made the gray she-cat smile. She turned her own blue eyes to the river, remembering that they were here to do more than just chat about toms...The leader flicked her paw in and out of the water in a smooth movement. When she finished, there was a fish laying on the bank. She killed it and looked back to her friend.

Nice one! she purred through the fish in her mouth as she set it by her others. We are making our own little pile here! she meowed at the pile of fish. she laughed and looked back at her leader.

"Little my paw! This thing is larger than my body!" Shadestar joked, laying next to the assortment of caught fish. It was true, that as she compared herself to the fish, the pile looked a tad bit larger. Even if the numbers weren't large, the size of the prey made up for it. The gray she-cat stood again, licking dead plant life from her fur and padding back to the river's edge. She stared into the rippling current, not blinking for fear of missing her chance. Soon enough, her blue eyes spotted a fish. She moved quick as possible, snagging the fish and claiming its life. As she placed her most recent catch in their pile, Shadestar looked at Thymemoon and meowed, "I think we should aim to get it larger than both of us combined!" The leader purred at the idea of the challenge.

Yeah! let's try! Thymemoon felt like an apprentice, her first hunt going truely well. she swatted a fish out and killed it, setting it by the pile. she then went back and looked at the river. she waited and swatted out another in a few heartbeats. she killed it, setting it on top of the pile. she returned back to the river and looked at Shadestar and watched her fish, before returning her gaze to the river.

A small purr escaped Shadestar as she watched her deputy catch fish with such enthusiasm as had not been seen by the leader in sometime. It was like watching an apprentice on their first time out of camp. Shadestar found that she herself was feeling much the same way inside. Light and cheerful as though there wasn't a care to have in the world but the hunt she and her friend were on. The earlier conversation about danger and troubled times ahead vanished from the gray she-cat's mind as she dived her paw into the river to retrieve yet another silver fish. She killed it with ease and dropped it in the pile. They were reaching their goal at a surprisingly fast pace. Shadestar's blue eyes grew bright as she hurried back to the river, energy racing through her veins.
