---Note: This is going to take place a while after Forever My Eternal--- Shaking stiff limbs, the tom yawned and rose from his sleep. Blinking bleary eyes, he smiled at the morning sun and set to grooming his fur. Jet black pelt shining under the light, he double-checked that his hind-leg was alright before he stood up, stretched, and set off into the woods. Since his fall the night before, he'd been determined to make more of himself and enjoy life. Despite the disagreeable cat he had met back then, he knew it would do him some good to grow associated with fellow rouges and loners. After all, if he couldn't make any outside friends back in the kingdom, why not make some here? Night bounded over a bush before scenting the air. It would be nice to hunt. After all, it was a beautiful day, and the tom's violet eyes rose to the sky as he smiled at the bright cheerful display of nature's kind-side. I wonder if Thorn is looking at the same sky. I wonder if he can enjoy the beauty of the world even with me still living out here. His smile grew sad, but he kept his pace. His cousin was still a cat, and could feel the same emotions as anyone else. As long as he remembered Thorn's good-side, which he had yet to see, then Night was content in believing that the tom might change one day. Blinking sunlight from his eyes, the tom scented the air, yet surprisingly no prey could be found in the good weather. Sighing, he sat down amongst a birch tree's roots, black tail wrapped around him. Strangely, the tom found himself craving for company. Bleak had been less than helpful personally, and he hadn't seen Elody since their last conversation, which made him worry for the she-cat and her nephew. The tom felt different somehow. So far, he'd never been lonely, yet no it seemed that time had caught up to him, and the absence of his kin began settling in as he longed for another voice to reach his ears.

"Fox-dung!" Like angry thunder, the frustrated voice of the she-cat rang through the woods. She was laying awkwardly on the ground, large black body sprawled across the leaves as her scornful green gaze followed the escaping mouse. Letting a growl rumble deep in her throat, Minx shook her maw scattering earth from her muzzle. That was the third one in a row! Spitting at her luck, the ugly black rogue slowly began to rise back to her paws. Managing to stand, she gingerly attempted to touch her back foot to the ground. Instantly pain made her pull it away, her sharp yowl of shock and anger bouncing off the trees. "Damn foot!" She howled mentally, her eyes narrowed to slits. Ever since she had sprained the appendage a few days ago fighting another loner, hunting had been practically impossible. Thinking of the fight, Minx smirked when she recalled the tom or at least what was left of the now dead cat, "Dumb cat...that's what he gets for getting in my way..." Snorting, the murderer walked a few paces and flopped down on her side sending up a fray of leaves. "No use in hunting..." Minx mumbled to herself, sheathing in unsheathing her claws out of habit. From a little farther away came a faint rustle, but figuring it was a squirrel, the scarred rogue turned away and placed her head on her paws.

the tom pushed his way through the bushes and halted, blinking as he stared at a black cat. The cat was obviously larger than most, and her pelt was scarred, but her eyes had a strange flicker in them that pricked the tom's interest. "Hello there. Are you alright?" He meowed suddenly, walking up to the she-cat, he smiled down at her. Oblivious to her murderous acts and personality, the tom found himself drawn to the mysterious yet intimidating air about her, and he waited for some form of response from the strange loner. Or perhaps she wasn't a loner. Maybe she was a clan cat lost outside her territory. Maybe she knew Thorn. No, of course not. Thorn doesn't talk to many cats unless he's angry, so I doubt if this she-cat knew him she'd be willing to talk about it. He sighed inwardly, though on the outside he remained friendly with a polite light in his indigo-blue eyes.

She wasn't completely caught off guard when she heard the voice for the crunch of undergrowth had alerted her, yet she couldn't help but flinch when she heard the voice. Head shooting up like a spring, Minx found herself eye and eye with another black cat. Unsurprisingly this one was smaller than herself, yet for some reason...he was smiling. Immediately Minx curled her lip,"what do you want weakling scum?" She snarled hostility, tail lashing while she glared at the stranger. So bad did she want to take her anger out on something...anything...and this foolish tom just so happened to be it. Yet instead of striking right away, she let her cold green gaze follow him, like a snake set on its prey.

Blinking, the tom smiled and tilted his head to the side. "That's a good one; I've received many nicknames, but never that one." He purred, too dense to realize the insult that had just been thrown at him. Black tail swaying, he sat down so he was eye level with the she-cat. Still smiling, he meowed good-naturedly, "My name's Night. It's nice to meet you." One might pity the tom's ignorance towards the she-cat's inner thoughts, but others might laugh at the spectacle. Rather than being insulted by her words or fleeing upon sighting the heinious cat, this tom was attempting to befriend Minx without knowing anything of her darker side. He blinked, and he smiled as he met her green gaze, unaware of the evil coldness behind them and, instead, only seeing a hidden character who had failed to yet be found.

[occ: Rotfl!!! I cracked up when I read that!]
For a long dragging moment, Minx did nothing but blink, her mouth practically hanging open. No cat could really be that stupid...could they? Looking away, she slowly rolled his words around on her tongue, trying to figure out if she had misheard him. Yet when she looked back, the muscular black she-cat found the tom, who she realized had just called himself Night, staring at her as if she were his long lost best-friend! Grinding her teeth together, Minx felt the fur along her spine bristle and in an instant she was scrambling to her feet. Managing to catch herself before she feel down, she spat viciously at him, teetering rather awkwardly on three legs. "What are you playing at you mouse-brained tom?" Minx sneered, her fore paw raised off the ground and aiming at his head. This was ridiculous.

[xD Minx is hilarious!] Night's smile faded as the she-cata rose and, ignoring her words, he crouched down to examine her hindleg. Unaware of her forepaw aimed to strike at him, he stepped to the side and looked up at her, barely moving out of range unintentionally. "You're leg... What happened to it?" He meowed, concern in his voice as he frowned and looked at the swollen ligament. Blinking, he looked back up at the she-cat. "You shouldn't stand with an injury like that." Ignoring her threats, the tom looked around for any herbs he could recognize, but he didn't know of anything for broken bones. Back in the kingdom, Raven was the only cat skilled with healing remedies, and though she had started teaching some of her knowledge to Blacky, both cats were now dead, murdered long ago. No wonder she looks so skinny though. That paw must make hunting difficult. Sitting up, the tom made a resolution to help her as he made eye-contact with the she-cat.

As soon as Night had moved in close enough, Minx prepared to swat at his head. She may have been weak, but she was sure her heavy claws paw could cause some damage, and since she was in no condition to fight, at least drive him away. But just before she could move, the black tom moved away, concern etched on his face. Arching her back, Minx let her paw fall harmlessly back to the ground, growling loudly while Night continued to talk. Particularly angry at her lost chance, the injured rogue shot him a venomous look, "That's none of your business and I'll do what ever I want you noisy freak!" She replied loudly, her nerves about ready to snap. This cat was just asking to die.

Smiling, he laughed before his gaze softened. "You know, you are pretty funny. But you don't have to act like nothing's wrong all the time. It helps to accept a helping paw every now and then." The tom smiled more gently than any other cat had probably done to Minx, aside from her mother maybe. Night glanced up at the sky. He had plenty of time for growing aquainted with the she-cat and taking care of her. Looking back down, he smiled. Secnting the air one more time, he was urged with the desire to feed the she-cat, and he finally picked up the mingled scents of vole and sparrow. "Would you prefer feathers or fur for breakfast?" He meowed, smiling at her and ignoring her angry, annoyed shouts.

When he once again ignored her words, Minx snorted and rolled her eyes. Now what? She couldn't attack him properly...she couldn't get away, for he would probably follow her if she tried...so what was she suppose to do? Letting out a long aggravated sigh she let her tail lash while she in turn ignored Nights, "words of wisdom" and contemplated on escaping. Than it hit her. "That's it!" The ragged cat realized suddenly, "I'll get away while he's hunting...or at least its worth a try..." Shaking her maw, Minx turned back to him, one good ear flat against her head. "Fine, if it will make your dumb little self happy...find me a fine plump sparrow...preferably young" She growled in demand, features curling into an almost amused sneer.

Instantly, he brightened up, smiling cheerfully at the she-cat. "Alright, just stay put and I'll be back soon." The tom scented the air once more before vanishing into the bushes, black fur disappearing like mist on the wind. The tom followed the sparrow's trail until he found the bird pecking away at a good-sized walnut. She wants a plump, young, fine sparrow. Examining the bird, he noted that it appeared maybe a moon past maturity, which was better than a small fledgling or a stringy elder. It's stomach wasn't as spoiled as he had hoped, but it was better than a thin rabbit. Crouching down, his eyes fell on the tawny brown feathers as his claws slid out, black tail still as it rested mid-sway, violet gaze narrowing to focus on his quarry. Then, suddenly, with a swift lunge, he had trapped the sparrow beneath one paw. Dispatching it with a clean bite to the neck, Night picked up the limp body and turned around to the direction he had come from. Glad that he was at least being helpful in some way, the tom set off at a trot as headed towards where his aquaintence was resting.

Watching as he turned and sprinted happily through the bush's, Minx angled her ears and listened carefully to his retreating paw steps. Once she was sure he was well out of hearing range she growled and turned in the opposite direction. "He's got crow-food for brains..." The black she-cat muttered out loud, ears twitching irritably. Than without waiting any longer, she began walking at the fastest pace she could manage her mind set on getting away from the clearing. "Once I've gotten out of here and healed, perhaps I'll come back and teach him a thing or two!" She thought vaguely as she limped on. The more she thought about it, the more it amused her, "He'll be looking all day long for that bird...huh. What an idiot!" Minx mused mentally, cringing slightly as her paw bumped against the earth. Yet the more she thought about the bird, the more it pained her to think she could be missing a free meal. At the thought of food, her mouth watered and for a moment she thought about going back. But than shaking her head angrily she thought better of it and continued on. She would rather starve than be bothered by such a fool.

Blinking as he entered the clearing, he looked around in a mixture of curiousity and confusion as he found it empty. Setting the sparrow down, he called out, "Hello? Miss, are you stil here?" Realizing he didn't know her name, he made a mental note to ask her later on. Bending down, he picked up the bird and set off again, sniffing out the she-cat's trail. Every now and then though, he had to stop and set down his kill to relocate Minx's scent. Due to the overpowering smell of the sparrow, he paused more often than he would've hoped, but he would sprint everytime he had her trail, stopping only to relocate it. Finally, he spotted the she-cat up ahead. Smiling he bounded ahead of her and halted directly in front of the she-cat. Setting the sparrow down at her paws, he smiled at the she-cat. "Hey, didn't I tell you to stay back in the clearing? I got you the bird you wanted." He purred, sitting down in front of her and unaware that she had been trying to escape.

Even before she saw the owner of the approaching paw-steps, Minx knew that Night had caught up to her. Blood boiling with frustration, the she-cat groaned loudly and was forced to stop in her tracks as the tom halted stubbornly in front of her. Almost completely forgetting about her injured foot, Minx tensed ready to lung forward and give him a piece of her mind. Yet before she could even move, the delectable scent of prey hit her nose and she let her cold green eyes wander to the feathery bird laid at his feet. She couldn't believe her eyes, that cotton brain had actually caught it! If she hadn't been so hungry, Minx would have attacked for sure, but not able to resist the sight, she snarled and dove for the meat. Stomach roaring, the large black cat sunk her fangs deep within the skin. Not caring whether Night was watching or not, she tore savagely with tooth and claw, blood dripping down her chin. Taking monstrous bites, Minx nearly forgot to breath and chew as she swallowed, savoring the flavorful juices that leaked into her mouth.

Watching in awe as the she-cat lunged without a second thought at the prey, he purred in a mixture of fascination and amusement as he sat down while the cat fed. "Wow, you sure were hungry. I can catch some more if you're still not full." He meowed, smiling at the she-cat as he watched her eat. By the way she was ravenously tearing at the meat, he was faintly reminded of the enormous lizards that had infested the lakes back in his old home. What had Claw called them? Corcins? Crackdoles? Crocodiles... Yes, that was it. He shuddered slightly at the thought. Melody had told him that her mate had died at the jaws of a crocodile, and she herself had witnessed it; helpless to save the tom from the ferociously powerful and fatal reptile. Blinking, he dismissed the memories and smiled as the she-cat satisfied her hunger.
