[yellow]Laughing good-naturedly, the tom took another bite of the mouse, silently thanking Starclan for the excellent haul. "Yes, but other than Firestar from the clans of old, it sounded like the kittypets don't mind their twoleg homes. They're used to living that kind of life, so I wonder if they prefer being kittypets over fighting for survival every day."
Smiling, he glanced over at the she-cat before drawing his attention back to the mouse and filling his mouth with food once more. When he had finished chewing and took the time to swallow, he purred to himself and spoke again.
"But we all have our opinions. Kittypets like their life because they're used to it. We enjoy clan life because we're used to it. Who knows? Maybe if they'd been born as warriors of Thunderclan, they might think kittypets were unfortunate. If we were born as kittypets, would we have pitied or even feared us clan cats? It's all a matter of 'what ifs', so I suppose that's why we all have to make do with what we have and not think too much about what we're missing out on or what others are without."
Finishing the rodent with one last bite, he licked his maw and grinned at Lilypond.
"After all, there is that saying that if we don't have claws, we can always use our teeth, right? We make the most of what we have, and so do they." Eyes softer now, he glanced at his paws for a moment before looking up at the she-cat. But what happens when you have neither? He didn't want to answer that, so he pushed the question aside and chose to smile instead, as he did for every problem he ever encountered.[/yellow]
[green]The she-cat's heart was thudding in her chest, and she nearly jumped when he spoke. Smiling, she tried to force past her nervous self-consciousness, but to no avail. Choosing to smile in order to cover her embarrassment, she pricked her ears at his words. Did he just say.... No, it was probably just my imagination.
Blinking curiously, she wondered what had brought the tom's question up, but she decided it might be better not to ask.
"Well, to be honest, erm..." Turning red suddenly, she felt her thoughts going against her. She couldn't very well tell him that he was the topic of today's conversation, yet at the same time she couldn't think of anything better to use as an excuse. To her, he was as close to perfect as she could ever bring herself.
"Um... Well, that is... You see...." Growing nervous, she stared at her paws, at a loss for words before she looked up and spotted a nearby raven nested in the branches of a birch tree.
"Um... Aha! That... That bird up there! I was wondering if it... Errr... Was hunting! Yes! You know how some birds like hawks circle the sky when looking for prey? I wonder if all birds are like that..." Laughing softly to herself, she prayed to Starclan that the tom wouldn't notice her hasty cover up.
