OOC: So, okay, I know a lot of you have long been anticipating a battle between these two clans, as I've hinted about a few times. And you know what? This is that battle. So post with your RiverClan or WindClan warriors, apprentices, medicine cats, deputies, leaders, anything except for kits and elders. Be realistic and remember; NO GOD-MODDING OR POWER-PLAYING. Enjoy. x]
IC: Dewdrop padded along the edge of WindClan territory, her long tail flicking and ears pricked for the sounds of cats coming by. The rest of the patrol was somewhere nearby, she had just want on to sniff up ahead. She continued to walk along, not really looking where she was going, long tail tip flicking occasionally while she trotted slowly over the hills and plains at the edge of the gorge. As she looked ahead she saw the small verge at the end of the gorge where RiverClan and WindClan shared a small stretch of land on the borderline. Thinking nothing about it, and listening to the pounding water of the gorge she felt a dull pain in her paw and she stumbled. Twisting her paw around she saw a long, thin thorn sticking into the thin flesh of her paw pad. Wincing, she enclosed her maw around the part of the thorn she could see, and carefully pulled it out. A trickle of blood immediately gushed out and she shook her paw, droplets spinning onto the stone by the gorge. Warily, she stepped sideways away from the gorge's pounding waters. She turned her paw around again and began to lap up the blood until it slowed and almost stopped. Her paw was sore, but nothing too bad. She continued on with her walk, not noticing the new rabbit hole right ahead of her, next to the land border of RiverClan territory.
Didn't notice, until she was stepping in it. She stumbled again, and fell feeling the WindClan scent fall behind her, and instead a fishy smell filled her mouth. Mouse-dung! She thought, realizing she had crossed the border. Fresh RiverClan scent filled her mouth and she backed away until a sharp yowl made her freeze.
"Intruder! What are you doing in RiverClan territory?" The yowl was unfriendly, but not too hostile and she saw an enormous ginger tom stalking towards her from the reeds. She recognized the tom as Russetstorm, a RiverClan warrior. She twitched one ear awkwardly, her left lying flat against her head while the other twisted around, gazing warily at the tom cat.
"I'm sorry, I tripped," she admitted, glancing down at her paws and avoiding his angry stare. She heard his snort of contempt and it was obvious he didn't believe her. But she was speaking the truth, and he had no proof other than that of a WindClan warrior. Russetstorm glared at her, waiting for more RiverClan cats to arrive.

[maroon]Thornstrike had barely started heading away from the Riverclan border when he heard voices. One was loud and sharp, almost angry, while the other was apologetic and slightly desperate. Blinking, the tabby padded towards the noise, rabbit dangling limply from his jaws. His paws halted on the hillside sloping down into Riverclan, and he stared at a cat who appeared to be stuck in.... A rabbit hole? It seems like the whole world is only made up of clumsy cats nowadays. Why is Dewdrop talking with that tom? Padding over to the cats, he stood a whisker's length from the border and set the rabbit down. "What's going on?" He meowed, voice authorative yet irritated that Russetstorm seemed to be threatening his clanmate.[/maroon]

Dewdrop's ear twitched towards the sound of pawsteps moving towards her, and Thornstrike, a fellow clan-mate's scent hit her nose. She felt a mixture of relief and guilt and she stayed in a defensive crouch still while gazing at the angry RiverClan tom.
Russetstorm's eyes fixed on a lean brown tabby tom as he appeared over the WindClan horizon, and he lashed a ginger tail and waited for the cat to arrive. As he grew closer he recognized Thornstrike. The RiverClan warrior lashed his tail and tilted his head to one side. "Your clan mate crossed into our territory. That's trespassing," he growled. Russetstorm wasn't usually this short tempered. He had always liked peace, but today he was more stressed out than usual and now he seemed to be taking his anger out on the WindClan cats.

[maroon]Instantly, the tom's patience was pricked by the warrior's sharp tone, but he kept his cool. He wasn't really in the mood to fight right now. He had just caught a succulent rabbit, and he was going to give it to his apprentice in hopes of making ammends for scaring her the other day, but now, instead, he was stuck in this situation. He would have to remind himself to give Dewdrop a harsh word later on for ruining his perfect day. But if he did have to fight, he would be more than willing to defend his territory. "Oh? So that's breaking the Warrior Code? You know, they really should've made that law more specific. It looks to me like she tripped and fell into your territory. They also say in the Warrior Code that a warrior doesn't need to kill to win their battles. Right about now I'd say you're really killing my patience and time, so why don't you stop being a paranoid piece of fox-dung for now and just stop making such a big deal out of small things?" His voice had a slightly arrogant tone to it, but his eyes were narrowed and glittered dangerously.[/maroon]

Lightwing padded up to the border between Riverclan and Windclan. She smelled trouble... Not only were there yowls of anger coming from this border, but she could feel tension and distaste in the air. "What's going on?" She asked Russetstorm, looking from her clanmate, to the warrior of Windclan she recognized as Thornstrike. Everyone looked upset. The atmosphere felt an inch from a battle...Her fur was prickling at the look of rage and arrogance on Thornstrike's face. She didn't know exactly what had happened here, but already she was ready to believe it was not Riverclan's fault. The way that tom looked made her feel a rage of her own. "What are you looking like that for?!" she growled at the tom. Her eyes narrowed as she unsheathed her claws. If he so much as put one claw out of line....

An angry growl rose in his throat as he glared at Thornstrike, and the fur on his neck and shoulders rose at the tone of his voice. He spat with fury and snarled at the insult, eyes glaring with almost as much warning danger as his enemy was showing. "Kill?" He hissed, and felt fury erupt in his chest. "You dare call me a murderer, you filthy piece of crow-food!" He ignored his clan mate as she padded over, and instead his muscles rippled beneath his pelt while he tensed to rip some fur off his antagonizers pelt. Claws sunk into the earth while rage sent blood flowing quick and hot through his veins, and eyes narrowed into a clear threat. "I would never erase the life of another cat! It doesn't matter that they're from a different clan, they can't chose who they were born to, or where! I would not kill, for I at least, know that every cat has feelings, fears, pains, and weaknesses." It was strange to him, to feel such a burning rage and hostility, over such a small problem. But his mind was made up. He was going to attack.
Dewdrop stared in dismay as the two toms snarled such harsh words at each other, and sensed the tension growing as another RiverClan warrior, a she-cat she recognized as Lightwing from the gatherings, padded over to join the argument. When the tom hissed about being unable to chose where they were born, her lips curled back into an annoyed snarl. Another RiverClan cat thinking they were superior for they were being born to RiverClan. "I would not wish to be born anywhere but here!" She hissed, but there wasn't much hostility in her tone, only surprised annoyance. "I love my clan just like you love yours!" Her voice lowered to her growl and the fur on her spine prickled with irritation. Mouse-brained fool! She thought.

"How dare you? You flea bitten excuse for a warrior!" Lightwing spat, a hint of a challenge in her voice. The she-cat did not normally get this aggressive, but she felt truly enraged, and nothing would be enough to mitigate her burning, flaming anger. Her pelt was bristling, her lips were pulled back in a snarl. She scraped an unsheathed claw along the ground. She was itching to get a good swipe at that arrogent piece of fox dirt... Her eyes glowed with a boiling urge to give Thornstrike a good scratch or two. To prove Riverclan were strong cats, not to be messed with or insulted. She wasn't even sure if the tom had insulted her. But that didn't matter. It felt inside as if he had, and that was good enough in her mind to excuse her actions! She raised her hackles, preparing herself for a fight. She looked to Russetstorm, to see if he felt the same. She knew by one glance at Thornstrike that the tom was ready to try and claw her too...

Thymemoon ran up to the cats. she looked at her clan mates. What is going on here? I demand to know! she looked at both sides and hissed. NOW! I wanna hear both stories. Both sides looked like they were about to cause an all out war between the Clans. She didn't want that but If she couldn't stop it, she might have to join the fight. she calmed her voice and said. I'm sure we can settle this WITHOUT fighting here.... Is there a way that all of ya'll can tell me your sides without causing all out war.

Lightwing looked to her deputy, the fierceness in Thymemoon's voice catching her off guard and distracting her from her rage. She flattened her fur, and sheathed her claws. "I didn't arrive until after whatever caused this, but I think the Windclan cats have done something to insult Riverclan." she meowed softly, her eyes not quite meeting those of Thymemoon. Her usual shyness was returning at a rapid pace. The warrior, having nothing else to say, waited for Russetstorm or Thornstrike to continue the explanation.

she looked at the others. Well?! I want to know so we can solve this WITHOUT fighting! I don't want to start a fight with Heraldstar if I can't help it! she yowled at the others. she was getting angrier by the minute and she really didn't want to start anything with WindClan now. she was suppose to be making patrols and what not but she couldn't do it with such hostility going on.

OOC: Sorry for late response. D=
[maroon]The tom smirked as two more Riverclanner's arrived, and he flicked his tail to dismiss their words. "What, you're not going to slay me with your words of justice? Listen, foxdung." He meowed, narrowing his eyes and glaring at Russetstorm. "I've killed more cats than you could dream of. They weren't from a clan, they weren't my friends, and they weren't strangers. They were my family. So don't preach about birth being undecided." He spat on the ground before casting a dark look at Thymemoon. "And anyway, I don't believe we owe you any explanation, fish-eater. Your warriors do what they want, and so do I. If you think I plan on following the Warrior Code for these pitiful scraps, then think again. Really, your hides would look nice hanging from a tree branch." Claws unsheathed and stabbed into the ground as the grass bent beneath the pressure. Lips pulled back in a threatening hiss as his tail lashed once. The tom was more than ready to fight these cats, even if he and Dewdrop were outnumbered. "Thymemoon, you going to stand there and blabber about peace and friendship, or are you going to defend what's left of your honor?" Eyes glittered, and a crooked smile appeared on the tom's muzzle. His tail slowed until it was swaying lightly through the air,and though the tom's body was relaxed and his fur flat and calm, he was ready for whatever came his way.[/maroon]

Russetstorm's fur bristled at the annoyed tone and words of the WindClan she-cat, Dewdrop. Before he could snarl out a reply and furious yowl came from behind him, and he turned to see his deputy, Thymemoon padding over. Lightwing spoke before he could, and just as he tried to come up with a reply, the arrogant fox-faced warrior, Thornstrike spoke. "How do you live with yourself, you filthy murderer! They cannot chose to be born into a cat that will never live to fulfill their dreams!" He spat. His patience was gone. With a single lash of his dark ginger tail he bunched his muscles and sprang. His long claws glittered in the sunlight, and his fur was set ablaze as he launched himself across the rutted earth and towards the antagonizer.
-------
OOC: Makes sense for Thornstrike's apprentice to be here, doesn't it? xD
IC: Featherpaw trotted up to the scene, her small white paws pattering slowly against the ground while she recoiled from the violence. Snarls and insults rang across the borders, and she could hardly make out who was talking. She carefully kept her distance as she walked around her mentor, and crouched between him and Dewdrop. Her blue eyes were wide and her tail bushed out with uncertainty. She didn't want to fight. She kept her mouth shut though, as she didn't want a cat to erupt on her again like Thornstrike had a few days ago. When the RiverClan warrior sprang, she let out a startled squeak and hid behind Dewdrop's legs.
-------
Dewdrop's muscles tensed, and she prepared for battle as Russetstorm launched himself at her clan mate. She felt as Featherpaw, Thornstrike's apprentice darted behind her, and she unleashed her claws and bared her teeth in a snarl at the enemy patrol. She prepared to defend herself, but was going to leave Featherpaw to fight off a much larger, experienced RiverClan warrior. A hiss rose from her throat, and she fixed Lightwing and Thymemoon in a threatening stare.

OOC: It does ^^ [maroon]He grinned as the tom lost hold of his temper. "Oh, I actually live with myself just fine. All I have left to do in life is kill my last remaining cousin. Sounds fun, eh?" As his opponent charged forward, Thornstrike's paws pushed off the ground and he lunged straight on a collision course. He was barely aware of Featherpaw, and he felt a flicker of regret that she had to see him like this. I've already showed her more than one bad side, then again, I don't really have a good side. His fangs bared as he prepared for the impact, and blood rushed through his veins with adrenaline as he anticipated shredding his enemy's pelt.[/maroon]

His amber eyes burned into his enemy's fur as the smashed into each other in midair. His claws flexed, and he lunged forward to sink them deep into coarse tabby fur. His teeth lunged forward to bury themselves deep into shoulder flesh, and another snarl ripped from his chest. Piece of Fox-Dung! He thought, rage burning through him and blurring his eyes so he couldn't see correctly.
-----
Featherpaw watched as her mentor and the ginger tom locked in combat, and she dropped her eyes to the ground and crouched closer to it while snarls and hisses split the air. Stop! Stop it now! She thought, anguished as she watched her mentor and the other tom tearing at each other.
