Lilypond Duskfur both smiled at Rushpaw's blatant enthusiasm for the gathering. "If you stay this interested and friendly at gatherings, you'll be a step ahead of most apprentices." Lightwing meowed teasingly to her apprentice. "Most are very shy and afraid their first time. I know I was." the she-cat purred as she remembered her first gathering. the many different cats, all older and wiser than she...it had been a daunting night. However, it was also the start of a great path as a warrior...Duskfur was about to meow something but was interrupted by Shadestar on the large rock.
Shadestar looked around, guessing that it would be a goods idea to start, now that Darkstar had arrived. Better late than never...."Shall we begin?" she asked the other leaders, and then turned to face the gathered cats. "I have good news and bad to report from Riverclan tonight." meowed the slender gray she-cat, her blue eyes twinkling in the moonlight. "First, I am pleased to announce that we have two new apprentices in our clan, one of which is with us tonight. Owlpaw will be mentored by Pantherclaw, and Rushpaw, who is sitting here tonight, is to be mentored by Lightwing."
Lightwing smiled proudly at the mention of finally being made a mentor. She also smiled at Rushpaw feeling happy for him to be mentioned at his first gathering.
Duskfur and Lilypond cheered for the two Riverclan cats next to them, as well as those back at the camp. However, they were paying close attention to Shadestar, waiting for the bad news she had promised would come next...
Shadestar cleared her throat and continued. "I also must report some bad news. There was a large fight that took place on the Riverclan/Windclan border a few days ago. I would like some explanation from Heraldstar as to why he allows his cats to attack Riverclan cats so ruthlessly, without any good reason at all?" she meowed, turning her bright blue eyes to find the Windclan leader.
Cloverleaf's ears were pricked. Before she could answer her apprentice, Shadestar had begun to speak. The Windclan medicine cat was all eyes and ears as she waited for the Riverclan leader to mention the border battle. When she did, Cloveleaf couldn't help but feel aggravation that the gray she-cat would dare claim it was all Windclan's fault...
OOC: Yes. That was huge and probably annoying for you all to read through. Sorry!

Tail tip twitching in surprise when Cloverleaf failed to answer him, Falconpaw turned away from the stars to look at the gray she-cat. "Cloverleaf are-" He stopped abruptly when he noticed that her eyes where locked on the great rock and in turn he found Shadestar's words reaching his ears. Feeling stupid, the white apprentice twisted around and turned his attention to the Riverclan leader. For a moment he found himself wondering if she would even bother talking about the border trouble, but in a matter of seconds he was proved wrong. Immediately after she finished talking, Falconpaw found his sharp golden eyes narrowing."It wasn't all Windclans fault!" He wanted to spit out loud, yet he simply retained himself to muttering under his breath in disbelief while his tail lashed.
(ooc: Er...whoever plays Heraldstar should post soon. o.o)

OOC: Silentstar, you should play Heraldstar because I don't think the member that owns him will...
Lightwing was watching her leader with interest, her expression clearly showing that she agreed with the gray she-cat's words. She flashed a distasteful look at a group of Windclan cats. They all looked so outraged! She hoped their leader would scold them for their outright bad behavior...
Duskfur looked to his sister and asked, "What do you think happened?" But his sister wasn't paying attention. Lilypond's ears were focused so fiercely on Shadestar's words, she didn't even hear the protesting mutters coming from the Windclan cats. She was too absorbed in this news. "Was it a fight over land?" she wondered out loud. Duskfur rolled his eyes and responded, "I was just asking you...." his meow trailed off jokingly. Lilypond realized how absorbed she had been and laughed quietly.
Cloverleaf smiled as her apprentice began to mutter angrily to himself. At least he was showing interest in the actions of the clans and the events of the gathering. It was good to see him anything other than his usual bored self.

[yellow]Purring. Breathwhisp looked over at the apprentice and smiled. "Hopefully you'll do much better than me when I was an apprentice. I spent most of my time walking into trees." He joked, though there was truth to his words. Glancing up as the warriors spoke, he tilted his head curiously. He hadn't heard of any fight, which proved just how oblivious the tom was. "How odd." He meowed, eyes still blanking out as he had an innocent smile printed permanently on his face.[/yellow] -------- [maroon]Thornstrike blinked at the mention of the battle, but he made no move to speak out or even aknowledge the fact that he had participated in the fight. He didn't care whether Heraldstar yelled at him or if all of Riverclan hunted him down. They'd annoyed him, so he'd done what he wanted.[/maroon] ------- Cursing as she shook extra-sticky mud off of one paw, Whisperrain glanced up at the leaders as they talked. Trying to avoid the Windclan and Riverclan warriors with their venomous looks, the she-cat looked around in search of any fellow medicine cats. It was difficult to make out anyone in particular against the crowd, but the beautiful silver she-cat finally spotted two familiar faces. Smiling, she wove between the clans until she could finally approach the two Windclanners. "Cloverleaf, Falconpaw, it's good to see two familiar faces here." She smiled, dipping her head politely to the mentor and apprentice. ------- [maroon]Jaywing didn't like being around all these cats, and she hissed slightly under her breath. She didn't know anyone, and she hoped with all her might that she wouldn't run into her brother or sister. Starclan make them stay back at their camps. Blinking, she felt a sense of relief as she noticed Hawktail, and she bounded over swiftly. "It's hard to believe all these cats make up the four clans, and to think there are even more back at their territories." She meowed to her friend, green eyes flashing as she avoided bumping into another warrior.[/maroon]

Shadestar was waiting patiently for Heraldstar to explain his warrior's outrageous actions, and blinked calmly from the large rock.
Lilypond and Duskfur were both staring at Heraldstar now, waiting for the Windclan leader to explain more about this battle. Both Thunderclan cats were interested to hear. Battles were fun to listen about when your clan was not involved or threatened by them. The she-cat and her brother both wrapped their tails around their paws to wait for more news on the matter.
Cloverleaf smiled as Whisperrain walked over. "Good to see you Whisperrain." the medicine cat purred to her fellow healer. "How is Shadowclan?" she asked kindly. It was always nice to talk with a cat who wasn't obsessed with the Windclan/Riverclan battle. She waited for Whisperrain's reply, while keeping one out open for what her leader would have to say.
Lightwing laughed at Breathwhisp's words. "I spent a good deal of my time falling into the river, so don't feel embarrassed." she purred lightly, joking but also telling the truth.

"Cloverleaf, Falconpaw, it's good to see two familiar faces here." Turning his attention away from the leaders, he pricked his ears in the direction of the voice and twisted his head to see Whisperrain. He had only seen the Shadowclan medicine cat once, and that had been at the last gathering, yet it was unmistakably her. Dipping his head in a respectful greeting Falconpaw stared calmly at her, "Hello Whisperrain," he meowed, voice losing its former hostility. Sitting straight, Falconpaw listened as his own mentor greeted the silver she-cat and began to strike up conversation. As far as he could tell, Heraldstar had not answered yet, though he kept his senses ready for the reply as he waited for Whisperrain to answer Cloverleafs question.

Smiling, the she-cat glanced first at Cloverleaf and then Falconpaw. "Our clan has been good. Green-leaf brings in a lot of prey, so I don't have to worry about any malnourished warriors. Though it has been difficult finding water mint with all the heat drying them out, but otherwise everything is fine. And how is Windclan?" She purred, green eyes soft at the mention of herbs, which was naturally her more comfortable subject. ------- [yellow]Blinking, Breathwhisp smiled cheerfully at Lightwing. "Hmmmm.... But I'm sure you're much more of a graceful hunter than I could ever be. I know I'd never be able to catch a fish, not in a hundred seasons." He laughed lightly before he glanced up at the moon. It was full, glowing brighter thany star, even the sun. He smiled before looking back at the cats he was talking to. Though he could only see half of most of them, he had only to turn his head to the side to take in their appearances. Then again, he recognized them by scent better than sight. "It's a bit chilly for Green-leaf. I wonder how Leaf-bare will be." However, instead of his voice lowering with concern at the mention of the dreaded season, he brightened up and grinned. "The snow's rather fun so long as you stay away from any liquid water." [/yellow][/center]

Lilypond laughed out loud as her clanmate mentioned staying away from liquid water. Just last Leafbare, her brother and she had been out hunting. Lilypond had chased a skinny mouse out onto a pool of ice. It wasn't very thick, and she wasn't really paying attention. To end the story, she had fallen right through. If Duskfur hadn't found her, she'd likely have frozen stiff.
While Lilypond found the memory quite funny, Duskfur found it to be an experience he hated looking back on. He could clearly remember seeing his sister one moment, and then hearing a splash as she disappeared. Her black fur under a thin sheet of ice beyond the hole, him struggling to get her out...It wasn't a pleasant incident. He was just glad he'd not lost her that day, and had done his best to keep his sister away from ice even since...The dark tom snapped back to the present, and looked at Breathwhisp, knowing his friend would remember this also.
Cloverleaf smiled. "Yes. Watermint grows well near a small pool in the center of our Moore. Perhaps at the half moon I could bring you a supply?" the Windclan medicine cat asked. It was common knowledge that medicine cats were much more friendly about sharing things, especially herbs, than warriors were.

Thymemoon sat there, her eyes still flashing back to the battle. It still scared her and she wanted the images to go away. she couldn't do her job without thinking of the battle. she layed down and curled up, not a very good thing to do at the gathering, but her mind was filled with images and her ears were ringing with the sound of cats fighting. She felt hot tears slid down her face. She had been in many battles, but something about this one stuck to her like a tick.

Lightwing glanced over and saw her deputy slide to the floor and dissolve into tears. She padded over and whispered into Thymemoon's ear. "What's up? Why are you so nervous and upset these days?' Lightwing really wanted to know. She had noticed her deputy was more and more timid these days, especially since the battle with Windclan...
Lilypond nudged her brother and they both spared a glance at Thymemoon. The Riverclan deputy was curled in a ball crying. Duskfur gave his sister a look that read, "What's up with her?" Lilypond just shrugged and looked to Shadestar, hoping for answers. However, her leader was still waiting for Heraldstar to speak, and hadn't noticed her deputy's minor breakdown...

I really don't know. It's just that ever since that battle, the images keep sticking in my head. I can't get them out! she whispered. I don't know why this is happening to me! I just can't get the images out! she curled up tighter and just layed there, the crying stopped.

[yellow]Tipping his head curiously, Breathwhisp glanced first at the brother and sister before changing his gaze to where the Riverclan deputy was crumpled up in a depressed heap. Her sobs were faint and nearly inaudible over the excited chattering of the crowd as they waited for the leaders to make their announcements, but the gray tom knew something was wrong, and even though he didn't have anything to do with Riverclan, his careless empathetic side won over and he padded over to where Thymemoon was laying. Lightwing was closeby, questioning the she-cat gently, and the tom sat down beside her. He wasn't really sure what had happened at the battle, but he had a feeling that the warrior had been there, after all, she kept relaying how the fighting was imprinted permanently in her mind. "Sometimes the mind heals slower than anything else. I know I don't really have a right to be saying this since I wasn't there in the first place, but some things are out of our power to control. The battle is something you shouldn't have to worry about. Those things happen, so it's not your fault. Whenever I can't get harmful images from my head, it helps to think of things that are good and cheerful in your life. Like friends, or snow, or delicious squirrels..." His mind trailed off and his eyes adapted a dreamy look as he imagined a succulently plump piece of prey dancing in front of him.[/yellow] Blinking, Whisperrain purred gratefully. "Oh, that would be very nice. I don't mean to sound needy or anything, but I greatly appreciate it." Smiling, she settled down, feeling the cold grass on her underside. "If there's anything you need help with it, don't be afraid to ask." She meowed, smiling at Cloverleaf and Falconpaw. [/center]

OOC: I'll post as Heraldstar for now. By the time we finish this gathering, the next one will begin xD.
IC: The gray brown tom slowly cast his gaze over the cats in the gathering, saw all the cats looking up expectantly for his answer. He turned to face Shadestar, his chin raised prominently, and when he spoke it only loud enough to reach the ears of the cats closest to the Great Rock. "From what my warriors told me, one of us tripped into your territory. Another warrior stepped in, in defense of his clan mate, and it was one of your cats that attacked first," he growled.

Shadestar glared at Heraldstar, something she did not do often. "I am aware that the she-cat tripped into our territory. I eventually gathered that much for my warriors. However, the matter I am concerned with was how your cats refused to leave Riverclan territory, and became throughly hostile toward my warriors within a matter of moments!" the Gray she-cat fixed Heraldstar with a cold blue gaze.
Lightwing tried to comfort her deputy. She remembered feeling so angry toward Thymemoon when the deputy was trying to stop the battle. The she-cat had looked disturbed even then...Now however, Lightwing only felt pity for her deputy. Whatever was bothering her must be very difficult to have stuck in the brain...
Cloverleaf dipped her head to Whisperrain, indicating that it was no trouble and thanking her for the generous offer. "If ever I do need something, I will be grateful for your help." she purred. Her green eyes were bright and friendly. The medicine cat had one ear on the argument between her leader and Riverclan's, however, as a medicine cat that hadn't dreamed anything of importance to this discusion, she didn't need to think too much about it...
