[maroon]The tom stiffened, but he held his ground, never betraying the shock he felt as he heard the she-cat's story. She was a murderer, like him. However, he hadn't enjoyed the anguished, pained looks on his family's faces. No. Though he had been searching for salvation, after the dead bodies of his kin lay littered about him, he had felt nothing but a cold emptiness that he couldn't shake off. When Jack died the next night, he had lost his last ounce of emotion, and he had fallen into a darkness he could not submerge himself from. Blinking pale green eyes, Thornstrike took one step towards the cat before stopping.
"Killing may seem satisfactory at first, but it can never fill up the space of what one has already lost. I thought I could bring them vengance, some form of relief if I killed my uncle's side of the family. I thought I could redeem my father, bring rest to my mother, and show my brother that justice has to be layed out. But there is no justice in killing. There is no happiness, relief, satisfaction from ending another cat's life. Once a cat has tasted blood, they will never stop yearning for a hunger that cannot cease."
He meowed, fangs glinting in the moonlight. His eyes narrowed as he stood before the she-cat, tabby coat rustled in the wind as his eyes looked onwards calmly.
"And yet you managed to escape, to forgive, to care. If everyone had been like you from the start... If Moon had been like you from the beggining, then maybe I wouldn't have ended up the way I am now."
For a brief moment, a flash of pain clouded his gaze, and it seemed as though the tom were struggling to pull out some hidden emotion, to understand that the she-cat was trying to help. However, he took a step backwards, and the feelings vanished in an instant, replaced by the cold, condemned icey orbs.
"However, it's too bad that Moon had to kill my father. I can not change the past, nor can I change who I am. Reassure your leader, Shadestar, that I have no intention of killing anyone here. Windclan is my home now. I will protect those foolish cats with my life, because they don't look at me and see the lives I ended. There is only one cat I am seeking out, one soul I have to send away from this forest. Don't worry about your clanmates. I am hunting only one cat, and once I've found him, you won't have to worry about 'Thornstrike's Anger Management."
