"I cannot account for my warrior's actions. They did what they did because they chose, I didn't order them to nor was I aware of the battle until after they came back," he growled, and his neck fur started to prickle with annoyance. "Whatever was said between the two clans is the result of pride and defense of their own clan mates," he narrowed his eyes as though daring any cat to argue.
----
Silentstar twitched her ears at the hostility arising between the two leaders, but daren't interfere in case it resulted in more of an argument. She could not, though, hide her surprise at the speak of a battle. It had seemed, to her, that tensions battles between the clans weren't happening at that time. She was wrong.
----
Brackenheart listened to the faint conversations from the other cats as they whispered amongst themselves uneasily. He cast his green eyes around the clearing, following one voice in particular. For a heartbeat his eyes fell upon the RiverClan Deputy, Thymemoon, and he saw that she still seemed upset by the battle. He twitched one of his ears but did not approach her as his leader was finally answering Shadestar. He focused intently on their words, and his fur began to rise uneasily as they both started to grow angry. This was a gathering; the clans were supposed to set aside their rivalry's and hostility to gather in a truce below the full moon. His and the RiverClan leader seemed to have forgotten that.

Darkstar listened to the argument, his tail flicking slowly. The tom closed his eyes half-way, growing bored. His turn to speak obviously would not be soon, therefore he had to wait. Looking at Shadestar and Heraldstar, Darkstar felt a small smirk come to his lips. "If they fight, it might become more interesting... On the other hand, if they fight it might put my Clanmates in harms way." Darkstar thought. "Shadestar, Heraldstar. This is a Gathering, not a battle ground." Darkstar growled quietly so only the Leaders could hear. He glared at the two, hoping that his warning would make them reach an agreement.

Shadestar heard Darkstar's warning, but he needn't have even spoken. Shadestar was already calming down. "I agree that the fight was a result of warrior's actions. Not a command." However, she did not say which warrior's actions, wisely leaving that to the imagination of the Windclan leader. In an undertone that none of the gathered cats but Heraldstar could hear, she added, "I did hear interesting things about a warrior named Thornstrike from your clan. He seemed to like bragging about murdering his family..." Shadestar's meow trailed off. She was not lying, nor was she trying to cause problems. there was genuine concern in her eyes for the Windclan leader. Angry as she might be at the battle that had taken place, she still felt it would be wrong not to warn Heraldstar of a possibly dangerous cat in his clan. Especially if he didn't already know that tom's history...

Heraldstar flicked the tip of his tail when Darkstar spoke, and forced his neck fur to lie flat. Of course. There is a truce, and we mustn't fight, He thought to himself. However, his ears pricked again when Shadestar spoke of Thornstrike. He knew the tom wasn't the most... Friendly cat, but he did not suspect him of murdering anyone, let alone his own flesh and blood. "Alright. I cannot speak for Thornstrike's actions before he joined this clan... For all I know, he had not killed anyone since joining WindClan. Thank you for telling me. It might be good to know if there's a murderous cat among our ranks," he stepped back, dipping his head, then turned his head to look down at the cats below. Stepping to the edge of the cats he called so all cats to hear. "Prey has been running well. We have a new apprentice, Featherpaw, mentored by Thornstrike," he felt a pang of alarm when he spoke, but pushed it away. "We've also had one new litter of kits. Thank StarClan for the lives and safety of the young," he added. "Other than what has been acknowledgment already, we have nothing more to report," he stepped back, dipping his head.

Darkstar stepped forward. "We have one new Apprentice, Splashpaw." Darkstar announced proudly. "Prey is running well. That is all." he mewed simply and stepped back. There wasn't much going on in the Clan lately. Mentally shrugging, Darkstar waited for the next Leader to speak.

Hearing Heraldstar speak about his warrior, Shadestar fully believed that the Windclan leader did not know how vicious Thornstrike could become. Were it not for the ears of all the cats tuned to the rock, Shadestar would have wished to talk more about the matter. However, she held her tongue and stepped back, letting Darkstar report how well things were in Shadowclan.
Lilypond and Duskfur both looked at each other, exchanging confused glances. As soon as the fight had started, it seemed to have stopped. They shrugged and listened to the good news for Shadowclan, meowing their approval when the news of the new apprentice, Splashpaw, was announced. Aside from the Windclan vs. Riverclan issue, the clans seemed to be thriving...
Cloverleaf looked across the clearing at Thornstrike. So quiet, so closed off. He seemed indifferent to the whole gathering and its news. She had always known he had a temper, but was he murderous? She wouldn't have thought so...but she did always try to see the best in her clanmates. Why hadn't Starclan shown her a message to either clear or cloud the warrior's name?

Having lost interest in the medicine cats light talk of herbs, Falonpaw let his consciousness sharpen toward the leaders heated conversation. Like his namesake, the tom's golden eyes flashed and watched like those of the hungry falcon searching the moor for a meal, in this case, information. Numerous times he found the fur along his spine willing to stand on end, though not wanting to freely display his emotions toward the fight, the young cat remained calm. The only evidence of his disturbance being the slitted eyes, which seemed to become increasingly sharp. Though he longed to, Falconpaw needn't glance toward the sky for answers. As easily as he could sense the grass beneath his paws, the tall white cat could feel the clearness of Silverpelt above, if Starclan where angry, they refused to show so. Yet in only a moments time, Falconpaw understood why. Just as fast as it had started, the feud ended with a few well put words from Dark star, leaving the apprentice nodding. From then forth Falconpaw listened quietly to the announcements of the leaders, long white tail wrapped around his paws as he held his head up, his stance almost dignified. So the gathering was to stay at peace, and as far as he could tell, the clans seemed as healthy and bursting with prey as should be. But there was one thing the leaders had shared with each other that disturbed him, Thornstrike. Almost naturally, Falconpaw glanced at the Windclan warrior out of the corner of his golden pools and than let them travel swiftly back to the great rock. It wasn't like he spent much time with the tom cat, in fact, he could hardly say he new him at all. But rumors of his anger, including that of the border fight, had some times reached Falonpaws ears, though usually he just shrugged them off. Now he felt an increasing suspicion for the tabby, and he mentally reminded himself to watch him, for more than just his own curiou s reasons.[/blockquote][/blockquote][/color]

Silentstar glanced at the three leaders and knew it was her turn to share news. She stepped forward, her golden eyes gazing over the clearing at the cats gathered below. She had not heard the words spoken about Thornstrike; she had been too relieved that the two leaders had stopped bickering. Beginning her announcement she called out so all cats could hear her. "I'd like to announce two new apprentices this moon. Glitterpaw and Dawnpaw!" Although the two apprentices had not been invited to the current gathering, she still announced their names. "Green-Leaf has also blessed up with a new litter of kits. Prey has been running well and other than that there is nothing else to report," she announced, stepping back so her black fur faded into the darkness of the night.

[maroon]The tom had a feeling something about himself had slipped in between the leaders, for Thornstrike felt several gazes flicker onto his pelt before drifting off. However, the tom didn't aknowledge the suspicious glances. Nonchalantly, he swiped his tongue around his muzzle before laying down, shutting himself off from the outside world. He didn't really care about the clans anyway. The tom had joined from the beggining with only his intention of hunting down Night. However, he refused to admit that along the way he had met several cats who had nearly made him convince himself to put aside his goal. Almost though. But they don't even understand. Briefly, his thoughts turned to his apprentice, Featherpaw. The she-cat was too innocent and oblivious to how wretched and merciless life could be, and how cruel a cat could treat another of its own kind. Unconciously, the tom's fangs flickered in the moonlight as he clenched his jaw tighter, gritting his teeth as green eyes narrowed. Moon, you got what you deserved. All of you did. Bane trusted you, Tawny trusted you. Jack trusted you. And so did I. But in the end, loyalty led us to be fools. Well, I guess this life is at least a little more exciting then when we were exiled. After all, this way you get to watch in suspense as I hunt down your last son. Grinning wickedly, the tom's tabby tail lashed once in the air before going still, and he sat up abruptly. Emerald orbs filled with unseen thoughts, Thornstrike turned and walked into the bushes, vanishing from sight. [/maroon]

Thymemoon looked up soon enough to see Thornstrike walk off. She srood up shakily and slowly padded after him, hoping to get a word with him. You ok? she asked, her voice not sounding as sturdy as she thought.

[maroon]Whirling around at the sound of pawsteps, Thornstrike's fur bristled, relaxing only after he identified the figure. Narrowing his eyes, the tom scoffed at the she-cat. "Gee, is there any reason I shouldn't be?" He meowed, voice heavy with sarcasm as his tail lashed once before calming. Though he felt the urge to shout snide remarks at the Riverclan deputy, what little self-control he still had kept him from doing so. "Jack and Tay were never this nosy." He muttered to himself. Then again, Tay never really cared about what Jack or I thought. Dismissing the brief, bitter memories, the tom blinked and looked up again, glowering at the she-cat. Freaking nosy cats. Mentally cursing under his breath, he was about to walk away when he realized that her voice hadn't sounded as sure as it had the other day. Pausing, the tom waited for a moment. The she-cat didn't look too good either, as though she had been upset by something. It couldn't be the battle. No cat worries that much over a stupid border fight. The tom's tail unconciously brushed over the cut that had been inflicted above his eye during the battle, and Thornstrike held back a growl. It didn't hurt, but he would make sure to get those crow-food eaters back. He didn't hate them, nor did he feel any reason to kill them. Though he was a murderer, and no cat had a justified reason to kill, the tom would not end another's life. No, he was saving all his hatred for that one cat. Night, are you out there? Wait for me. Wait for me to come and rip out your throat. Wait for me to send you to your death bed. Wait for your long-lost cousin to spill your blood upon the forest floor. His eyes narrowed again, angry green orbs as the tom grew lost in thought. [/center][/maroon]

Shadestar listened to Silentstar, purring when the Thunderclan cat spoke of her clan's good fortune. However, alarm swirled within her as she kept one eye on the Windclan warrior Thornstrike. He looked so distant from his clan mates! Every so often, a hungry, almost maniacal look came across his face, and he would grit his fangs. Shadestar didn't know if she was letting her imagination run wild, or if she was really seeing a tom with the potential to threaten even his own clan...She worried for Heraldstar, despite their recent conflict.
Lilypond and Duskfur watched Thornstrike as he glowered at nothing in particular. He didn't seem like a very friendly cat. Of coarse, every clan had the typical story natured cat. The siblings didn't think much of it...
Cloverleaf was lost in thoughts about things she would ask Starclan the next time she visited the Moonstone. She barely heard the Thunderclan leader speak about Glitterpaw and Dawnpaw, or the new kits. She smiled with the others, but it was a vague and distant smile. It was clear her mind was other places.

You can yell at me any snide or bad remarks... I've heard many before.... she laughed softly and sighed. Is there something on your mind? I may not be your deputy but I care for all cats, she paused and added, Even ones who kill their family.... All deserve to be forgiven at some point, no matter what. she thought about what he said about Jack and Tay. Are.... were they your family, too?

[maroon]Turning, the tom listened for a moment, though he didn't make it obvious if he was paying attention or not. His eyes narrowed at her words. How can you care for all cats when you don't even know the things they've done? Some cats wouldn't hesitate to kill you on the spot just for walking past them. And some of the things we've done don't deserve to be forgiven. Still, he didn't say this out loud. However, his eyes widened at her next question, and for a moment, the tom was left with nothing to say. A silence hung heavily in the air, and he swore he could hear his own heart-beat; cold, empty, constricted... Blinking, he cleared away the image. "My family does not concern you. Now, I don't mean to be any ruder than I already have been, but I suggest you don't get mixed up in my business. You'll find yourself in a hell you can not escape." His eyes narrowed as his tone darkened, and a ghostly wind seemed to sweep through the forest, whispering words too haunting to interpret. [/center][/maroon]

Thymemoon heard the wind and shivered. It scared her, truely scared her. She looked at thornstrike again and sighed. I see. Well being in this place is more of a hell i cannot escape. I-I.... she paused, wondering if she should say this. My family was murdered. By a cat or badger or something, I was young back then. But somehow seeing that scene made me feel, a sence of... err, Happiness. I enjoyed the smell of their blood on my paws, and look of terror on their cold, dead faces. she laughed and sighed. I'm such a..... sadistic cat. I feel dirty now, remembering this. Not long after, I was off, killing anything I could find. Mice, fish.... I killed another kit! I-I wanted to feel the same happiness I felt when I saw their dead bodies, but I couldn't. So I gave up and moved on, keeping that feeling with me.
